Yes Try Carjet. They do a normal hire using Goldcar or a budget service where you do the trade from a van in the car park of the airport. THis is normally qucker than queing in the airport which can be an hour sometimes. Fully inclusive, except for wheel and underbelly insurance. which you probably do not need. Pay for full tank of fuel at reasonable price and return empty. NOt Gold car rip off prices. You can pay on booking or on arrival.
Good Luck

rent-a-wreck dont charge for fuel! the cars come with a full tank and return it the same.
the only extra charges they have is excess of 250 ( if you crash) and the time of the airport collection, Its about 20 euros before 7 am and after 7 pm for san javier and 45 euros for alicante.
Hence the name rentawreck! There not worried about little dents or scratches,, look at their site http://rentawreck.co.uk

Sorry but if you use Carjet you are at the mercy of the hire company they pick for you when you get the car. I have used them several times in the past and they give you Auriga, Record or Goldcar. When you get to the airport you are then pushed for the extra insurance for tyres and windows etc which can add over €5 a day on the cost. Then the cost of the fuel is not reasonable, a medium sized car will cost €74 for petrol plus (for some reason) extra for diesel even though it is cheaper in Spain. (Probably charging you for the rubber gloves they have to put on when refuelling). Then there is the cost of child seats which are €5.50 a day and €3 a day for booster seats (up to a maximum of €36 for booster seats). Car hire through Carjet in August for a Renault Clio was quoted as €458 for two weeks. Add on the fuel, the insurance and two booster seats and this goes up to €675 for a two week hire. This was the same with DoyouSpain who are also a broker. I used DoyouSpain in June and the quoted hire cost or €298 for two weeks went up to €384 and that was without any car seats and just the basic insurance. August is €650 for two weeks. There was also almost an hour wait to collect the car (wasn't given the option of using one of the vans in the car park).
I used to use Econorent (through Hire Cars in Spain) but their prices seemed really high. However, there are none of the extras and you get the full/full on fuel (last time I filled up it cost me €23 for diesel) and their booster seats are just €10 per rental. I am using them next time and the full cost (including 2 booster seats) is €530 for the two weeks. Still extremely high. I am defo looking for a cheap (ish) car to buy on my next visit. Thanks to those of who have emailed me with some good dealers and I will look and am also trawling Spanish ebay as recommended. There are also companies which charge €250 a year for full time parking at the airport including pick up and dropping off. Even including this and the insurance, I reckon I'll get my money back after 4 or 5 trips (Unless someone out there buys my UK house so I won't have to keep going back and forth all the time).
As posted on the driving in Spain thread, my car hire and flights with 2 grandkids in August is costing €1200 and that doesn't include accommodation. A fortnight in a 3* hotel B&B in Portugal at the same time would have cost £900 including all transfers.

Im not sure how many cars they have. I rented a ford escort from them and for the week with the cost of flying in after 7 pm to murcia the car (needed a paint job) cost me 170 euros, It had 140,000 kms on the clock and drove very well. What else do we need in spain?

Hi Pinhead
Sorry I just assumed that with all your knowledge on the company. If the company is not related to the London based rentawreck and are based in murcia. I would have thought it may have been better to use an es. website to avoid confusion? from co.uk

Thought i'd give them a whirl for my trip in October. I don't think their form is working on the website as it doesn't give a confirmation the message as sent and i've heard nothing .

I enquired before and by the time you add on the delivery cost to Alicante Airport they were no cheaper for a week. Might be different if you were renting for a longer period.

I see their site has been shut down at the insistence of the US company of the same name. Bit of a blow for cheaper car hire!
