Transfer Charges between Spanish Banks
The Comments |
I recently transferred in excess of 150K euros from my Spanish bank (deposit) account to a Euro account with Barclays in Madrid. I was charged 0.5% in commission.
Not only that, it took 9 days between taking it from my Spanish bank until it landed at Barclays Madrid.
Are these charges and service accepted in Spain?

The commisssion sounds about right (but I believe with some banks you can negotiate), but the 9 days is abysmal. Interbank transfers in my experience leave on day 1 to arrive on day 2.

We were charged 0.78 Euros just to draw out 2600 Euors in cash to pay for our furniture . The banks seem to charge for any litlte thing. It is all very well saying that you can negoitiate but how does one negotiate if you are not based in Spain .
Are the UK banks like Barclays that have a base in Spain as expensive for if they are not then I may change. 78 cents is not a lot but it is the principle of the thing .
