Hi everyone.
we were out in our apartment last easter (inland from Guardamar, Costa Blanca South) and it was my boys birthday, we searched high and low (even carrefore) for a proper birthday cake and could not find one. We are now coming back out at the end of July and it just happens that it will be my wifes birthday whilst we are there. Would appreciate any help or info about where i could get a birthday cake for her from.
Thanks
Mark

Since we cannot advertise ( rightly so ) on this forum, I have sent you a PM which I hope you can access.

Living in the Murcia area, I am looking for a good supplier of Icing sugar, and even better a cake products supplier. I like doing sugar flowers etc,
I can only find the little round tubs of icing sugar, even the 1kg boxes would be better than that. At the moment I am mail ordering bits and pieces.
Thanks anybody

Icing sugar is just powdered sugar. To make icing just add a little milk, or so my friend tells me.

I've tried what you said More, but it doesn't work.....................what you get is wet granulated sugar and you can't spread that on a cake or make sugar flowers with it.
octojan, you will need to find an English shop, like Johnsons or Jacksons or quick save or perhaps Gama. There you will be able to buy kilo packs of icing sugar. Check the prices tho cos they do vary. Icing sugar here is MUCH more expensive than in England.
I have a regular bulk order with our local shop and pay 1.65€ per kilo.

Hi
To make icing sugar you grind caster sugar, and he presto white soft stuff. I never buy icing sugar anymore, just icing sugar and make my own. I have a grinder attachment that you can make breadcrumbs with. Just put some icing in that and HEY PRESTO loads of the stuff

Years ago I needed some castor sugar for a recipe but only had granulated. I decided to try ginding it but it's very easy to overgrind and end up with icing sugar.

Thanks Karensun,
I found an English shop about 30 mins drive away and I have stocked up ..., I did find it a bit pricey (3.95 euros) per 1kg, but going to still look around.
Cheers

But IF it proves difficult to get hold of the white stuff, Karen, it IS an alternative.
Most don't make zillions of cakes, just the occasional one. I do recall my mum liquidising (?) some sugar once as she had forgotten to buy some icing sugar & she was covered in powder. It'll never happen to me as you wouldn't catch me baking cakes. Mr Kipling bakes so much better than More.
