Running groups?. .

Hi I have been here 3 weeks and just finished unpacking 65 boxes and furniture. Now i need some ME time and to get out to do a bit of running. Are there any running groups in the orihuela costa are who meet to train together. I am very unfit as I have spent the last 18 months packing up a UK house, looking for and subsequently buying our lovely house here and then unpacking.I am not very technical so even getting to this forum is an achievment for me. I have been out in the early mornings for a jog around my area but want to get training for the torrevieja half in feb. Am only managing things like Race for Life back in UK ( going to do St Albans July 20 with my 12 year old grand daughter) Have managed to do London Marathon a few years ago but now have become very unfit due to injury and getting older !!

I spent the last two weeks out in Spain and found it too hot to even walk let alone run. Hats off to you for your effort so far.
A few suggestions for you, look for a local gym and see if they have a notice board.
Look in the free papers, you could also send them a request via their letters page for further information.
I've often seen people running singularly but never a group.
Good luck in your search and welcome to your new life in Spain.

Semi, you & I couldn't run in winter to save our lives.
Hi Lin, welcome (Semi & I know each other, by the way).
Here is some help, with luck.
Running Group
A group of expat runners meet at Caprabo supermarket near Carrefour on Sunday mornings for a longish run. Also meet Tuesday & Thursday evenings for quality sessions.
For more details, phone John on 966786774
or email carolejohn_3 at hotmail.com
(Found on the Torre.com forum but check as post was 2005 !!! )
Check out classifieds in papers online too.

Thanks for that reply but that info is old news. I have spoken to John and it is a small group of 3 and way out of my league. It seems that everyone on the Orihuela Costa runs alone. Hey ho.
