Moving with a dog
The Comments |
I didn't want to fly my dog out to Spain because we would have to travel to London and pay the earth.
The plan was to take the Plymouth-Santander ferry and drive down from there.
We have decided to let our UK home as the market is stagnant and perhaps move over at the end of October.
Brittany Ferries are showing as ferries not available for the whole of October apart from half term week which is full.
I checked the Portsmouth - Santander route and there are sailings available but no pet transport.
What does everyone else do? I am a bit stumped.

We drive with our 2 dogs in the Summer and use the Euro tunnel. The dogs are with us in the car and the journey is free of hassle. We book Etap hotels en route and are allowed to take one dog per room.

Hi
Have you checked ferries to Bilbao? I have picked this ferry list up from the DEFRA website PETS: Approved routes and transport companies for Registered Assistance dogs - By sea
http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/pets/procedures/support-info/assistance-sea.htm
Hope you get something sorted.

Thanks for the info but I looked into the options and Brittany Ferries are the only ones to do dogs to Spain.
The euro tunnel would be a terrible option for us as it would take more than 4 hours just to get to the train.
We live in deepest darkest Devon.
We may ne able to make the Roscoff ferry and drive down from there. It would add a day or two to the trip.
