Hi Everyone,
what a great site this is!
It's such a mine of information!
Can anyone help me though with Self Certified mortgages in Spain? There are a number of spanish based 'brokers' who are claiming exclusive 80% LTV and others saying 60%. Anyone know what's what in todays market?
I'm going out there mid Oct and would like to know what's possible before I waste my time seeing properties.
Cheers now

Hi. I doubt self-certified mortages are still accepted. Besides 60% is the Loan to Value that is now being offered to non-residents in Spain. It is becoming increasingly harder to secure mortgage finance nowadays. This message was last edited by pacolopez on 9/20/2008.

Thanks pacolopez.
I've seen a couple of properties which are definitely 60% below possible valuation (even with the prices coming down) so was hopeful there might be finance available somewhere.

Hi,
Try contacting a mortgage broker. The independent ones have access to the majority of lenders and they have direct 'phone access to the decision makers. They can give you a good idea within 24 hours of what your chances/options are.
We are self-employed and have bought buy-to-lets and self-cert was the only way for us.......so been there ...done that.....and just about kept the t-shirt on my back
