Every time we go we like it more and more....our location is going to be near Huercal Overa and fav beach is San Juan de los Terreros

Spent years going to CDS but when we found Almeria , between Aguilas and Mojacar, well!!.....it does not compare
But I have to say there are lots of parts of Costa Blanca and Calida whicb came into the reckoning
Alicante to Mojacar must be the best region of Spain for a holoiday home, part or full time living
Anyone who knocks it, just does not know it.....something for everyone

And of course just now some great deals...but remember...treat buying in Spain the same as in UK...and do not become a starter dealer in property!

Hey, don't tell everyone, they'll all want to come here and we like it as it is! It's one of Spain's best kept secrets and we'd like it to stay that way.

Everyone should read the blog as it gives a good insight to San Juan de los Terreros and life in Almeria
My favourite beach which I shall be on later this month!

Property is not the cheapest of the area with a 2 bed apartment 100m from the beach from 170.300 € although you may be able to find something older a touch cheaper
One golf course open and another due to open shortly and some good walkinhg country but it is a quiet location except for the summer, when sometimes it looks as though all of Spain has arrived

Tell me....what is the up to date position on the road over the mountains to Pulpi as when I was over in June it was closed

The road to Pulpi is still closed and I understand it is unlikely to be open before next spring. We just come of the AP7 at Aguilas and use the coast road to get into the village, and Pulpi is about half an hour away instead of 10 minutes but fortunatey we don't need to go too often although I do prefer to use the post office at Pulpi rather than Aguilas, it's always much quieter.

We still don't know when the lower golf course will be open, although in understand it will be run by the same people as run Aguilon where we are members. Aguilon is a fabulous course although they have just tined and sanded all the greens so at the moment they are not running true but they will be back to good condition in a couple of weeks.

There are so many different membership deals going on at the moment, you would need to check with the office. They have been having a real drive on increasing membership so thay have had offers for 1 year, 3 years, 5 years and then the 10 year and 25 year debentures.

We bought a 25 year family debenture and our annual fees total about €1400 for the two of us plus we pay €3 each time we play. As we play 3 times a week it costs us about €8 per game excluding the cost of the debenture which we just put down to being part of the cost of moving to Spain. It means our golf is affordable and we can splash out occasionally and play Valle del Este, or Roda or any of them for a change.

I know, it's a tough life!

We're of to Aguilas for Fish & Chips tonight - there's a cafe that does proper english F&C run by someone from Leeds - it's top notch grub - mushy peas, vinegar, bread & butter - just right when you have one of those fish & chip moments! Gonna join us?

Trying to get ready to go back to Guardamar on Tuesday at the mo, till 23rd.

Glad you're enjoying my blog, I love your two, as you know.

Enjoy your fish 'n chips. (Remember how lost C & I got in Aquilas' back streets on the way to seeing you. Not going there, unaccompanied, again).

hi ,

I am coming to Aguilas soon. Please an you tell me where the fish and chip shop is. I am coming with my children and mother in law so they would love to go there. I too have been lost in the narrow back streets of Aguilas before and don't fancy that again!!  Think I have mastered my way round now though.

Thanks

OK, in the main square in Aguilas, standing with the castle on your left hand side, you need to be on the right hand side of the square looking away from the marina. The road is one way and you need to be heading away from the marina, walk along that road for about 100 metres (ish) and it's up a little arcade walkway off the main road on the right hand side. See my main blog at http://relocatetospain.blogspot.com 4th October entry for a photo so you know what you are looking for. On one corner to the entrance is a photographic shop with wedding photos in the window and the other corner is an Estate Agent.

Hope you find it OK.

Thank you J& N,

Like you I love to embrace the spanish culture myself and would be horrified to hear there was a Mcdonalds or Burger king in town, but when you mentioned fishand chips and coming from leeds myself  I weakend. I am over with my children and mum in law at the end of oct and I am sure they would like to try it along with all the other lovely restaurants in Aguilas. I am sure that I can find where it is thanks. We also play golf ( my hubby and I , the children are just starting as they are 7 & 9). I have to say that my handicap is 36 and my hubby is 11!!  I have only been playing for a short while, he has played for a lot longer. The golf course that you mentioned in your blog sounds lovely and close to us I would like to give it a try. We played last time ( on the few occaisions we had no kids ) at a course in Vera. I lost so many balls In all the bushes we had to buy some more half way round. I hope I have improved since then.

Thanks again

Carolyn

Smartie 22,

 Hi Sarah

Hope you are reading this too so you know where the fish and chips are. We are also on los collados. We are on Los collado bajo and are also going in late Oct.. We also use Oasis  and Simone has been really helpful.

Carolyn

Nice to see that I am not the only one who likes Almeria

On Tuesday  I go with Barbara my wife for 3 weeks, first week with our younger daughter and 3 children and we will be on the beach and in the sea [ a site to see!]  at San Juan very soon

I know you have had some rain but for the next 3 weeks the sun will shine!!!!

And of course nowadays with IT you can keep in touch with business and everyone all the time
