ITV on a Moped

I have just bought a moped which has had it's ITV. The last owner asked the ITV inspector where she should display it and the grumpy git said "wherever you want".
We both agreed that it is the sort of thing that could easily be "nicked".
Does anyone know if it is ok not to display it but keep it with my papers under my seat?

Sorry can't answer your query but just wanted to say I love your doggy pic, he/she is adorable. Reminds me of two very special schnauzers Mac n' Tosh now sadly departed.
