Hi Everyone!
We are new to this forum, but have been looking through numerous apartments for the past few months. We are located in Canada, and have been to Spain a few times, and found we thoroughly enjoyed the pace of life and friendliness of the people. After much consideration, we will be moving to Benalmedena this spring after the sale of our house here. John is a British citizen, so the move for us and our two children is fine as far as the immigration goes, but there are so many questions about just settling once on the ground.... all in good time, I suppose.
We have decided to take a short term rental, in order to provide us with some time to decide which area suits our family best. We will be looking to sign a long term let to ensure the area is a good fit for our family. As our current landing date is still dependant on the sale of the house, we can just speculate somewhere near early May. If anyone has any advice on a good location to be near schools (children will be 9 and 5, and we are leaning toward state schools), and maybe any advice on what areas to watch out for, we would be very grateful.
We have read about numerous "bilingual state schools" now running in the Malaga area, and were wondering if anyone has heard of or been involved with one? The article stated they were begun as pilot projects, but have taken off and spread throughout Spain. We have no qualms enrolling the children in 100% Castilian, but thought a bilingual setting would help with integration while keeping up English studies. On the subject, any information regarding a good summer Spanish program for children would be well appreciated, too.
Thankyou for reading, and we hope to talk with many of you in the coming weeks and months.
Sincerely,
Jenn & John
