Hi - I`ve just joined, and wonder if anyone knows of somewhere in UK where you can discuss Barclays Spain issues. Barclays UK don`t want to know and my letters to Madrid are not answering my problems. I don`t want to travel to Madrid just to discuss an issue, and need to communicate with a representative of Barclays Spain in UK. HELP! Thanks. Londoner.

Sorry to be negative, but I don't think you're going to get any joy in the UK. I don't think there's a branch of Barclays anywhere in Spain that would be able to help with a problem on my Barclays UK account. The two entities trade separately and are really only connected by name. In fact, I think Barclays in Spain operates as a franchise.

Your best bet may be to try to speak to them on the phone. There are numbers for customer service etc. on their website. If you use SKYPE or similar, it shouldn't cost much.

As Roberto says, the two companies are two different entities, albeit a part of the same group.

Have you tried using the secure messaging facility on the Barclays.es website and asking for someone from your branch to contact you? There is a contact number given on this page as well as other contact details. If you were to use a phone provider such as 18185.co.uk, calls to Spain are 1p per minute. I have an account at Cartagena and can let you have a email address for customer services there, it may help you on your way?

Thank you Roberto and Marksfish for your replies & help. Just as I feared, from research of my own, it is impossible to contact them personally, unless you go there or write. The problem is the language difficulty, as I don`t speak Spanish, and when I`ve `phoned in the past, it has been difficult having a sensible conversation with someone who doesn`t speak English. Similarly, when I have written, replies come back in either Spanish or a brief, dismissive letter in English.

Nothing for it but to go to Madrid!  Wish me luck. Jo

A Google search for Suzanne Clay only brings up some pictures from the Barclays website. There is a contact number though for Churchill Place which is +44 (0)20 7116 1000, if you can't get here then maybe her department. Also, try suzanne.clay@barclays.com

A quick update on  my attempts to discuss issues with Barclays Spain in UK. Suzanne Clay replied but she has moved to a different section so couldn`t help. She gave me the customer service number, but same old, same old...no-one spoke good enough  English to discuss a problem, and really didn`t want to know. So I`ve written again to Madrid & await a reply.  I guess I`ll just have to go to Madrid in person if I don`t get a result. Thanks again for help & advice.  Jo
