Karensun, what have you heard? We were with Solaris until March when we lost everything and we were just about to contact Torresat (because our friends who live on our community use them) to arrange TV with them for next week when we come over next. Now you've got me worried!

Hi all we just got Torre Sat fitted all the kit free in exchange for old tele Micro kit and 120 euros then nothing for 6 months then 20 euros per month by DD seemed a good deal if they go bust can just stop DD Quality and channel lists are ok get all usual like free veiw in uk plus some films and sport so not too bad for 20 euros

Was told ( unconfirmed ) that those two companies would be finished by Xmas. I have no idea how true this is BUT taking into account all the other rumours and happenings of late, I would be very hesitant in agreeing to anything. Of course if you are only paying each month and not a lump sum up front, then you don't have much to loose.
Several of our owners who are/were with Toresat have gone onto the communal satallite system because they are fed up with loosing transmission and the fact that amounts have been removed from thier bank via direct debit when they should not have been.

We opted not to risk losing more money after Telmicro. Our friends have Torresat & it keeps playing up, lots of breaking up, sometimes off for a while.
In October we bought a Spanish TDT box & we could change quite a few of the almost 30 channels to English language but you don't get news in English nor what we're used to, though it was a good stop gap while we decided what to do.
Now we're the proud owners of a 1.9m Portugese satellite dish & a Humax Easy Digital Foxsat-HDR box which is brilliant. No need for a DVD recorder. It's got a 320GB hard drive & can record two different channels at the same time. Records 200 hrs on standard, 80 on HD. It is new & the engineer had only put 6 in when he did ours. More DETAILS pdf
Now we need a big LCD TV HD (next trip).

Thanks for all the replies everyone.
Karen, I had heard that torresat want 6 months up front but simulsat will do it month on month so if they do go ar*e about face then at least we can cancel the direct debit. Right kerfuffle!
JPD, how long ago did you have it put in?
Mark, long story mate . Going to see what's happening when we go over
