Please could anyone tell me what the opening times for big stores such as Carrefour in Cartagena or any other supermarket are over the Easter period?
We are flying in on Wednesday 8th and want to know if it's worth rushing to get food in if the shops are closed on Thursday.
I am sure that I read on an earlier thread that shops are closed from Thursday 9th April through to 13th April. Is that right?
Would really appreciate any information regarding Spanish Easter holidays
We have a place on Condado Alhama De Murcia.
Regards
Pam

Most places will be closed Thursday and Friday, as these are the religious holidays. However, everything should be open as usual on Saturday and Monday

Carrefour Playa Flamenca, CB only has one "blue" day (Closed), that is 26th April
It is open as normal right through the Easter holiday/religious days.
Saw the notice on the door yesterday.............

I think it depends on where you are: the supermarkets in Jumilla will be open until 2.30 on Thursday, however they will be closed all day on Monday. We now know to check these things in advance, having been caught out in August!

I now just take it as read that they are shut and get what I need before hand, just in case!
Then if they are open it's a bonus.

No probs Pam,
Weather here this last week has been up & down.
Had some rain showers today and when we arrived a week ago, we had big floods!
Still got a bit of a tan though, your forecast fro the week to come looks better.
Have a great time!

Hi Pam
AND, as someone said in another thread asking about shops being open on Sundays, there's always the 24 hr petrol stations which have a good selection of food & basic necessities in. This message was last edited by morerosado on 4/7/2009.

Opencor - not cheap, but open 365 days a year until late.
Expect rain on Good Friday - around about the time the processions start
