Orange

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me? I have moved from Telefonica to Orange and my internet has been working fine. I have been waiting for Orange to switch over the telephone line and I recieved a text last night saying my telephone would be off from 9am -5pm today while they switch it over. It has been off all day and at 5pm I recieved a text telling me the line had been switched and I needed to reset my orange livebox. I did so but my telephone is still not working????
The internet is still fine and I'm not sure if I am meant to now plug my telephone into the Orange live box or leave it plugged into the wall? All texts and manuals are in Spanish and I have been getting by okay but now I am stumped! Could it be that my telephone is a telefonica phone and I need to buy a new phone?
Anyone got a clue????
Thanks all

Orange phone is similar to Skype in that it is VOIP. I would suggest the phone is plugged into the live box somehow as tat is what my parents have done in the UK.

Thanks Marksfish.
I have plugged the phone into the box and I can now make calls, however I don't seem to be able to recieve them?? I have searched the internet and read others in France and UK who have had to buy another phone for incoming calls??? Is this correct?? I have to have 2 different phones? Surely they should have told me this BEFORE cutting off my previous phone line???

Hi Vicci,
I have Orange broadband internet and the package included free landline phone calls within Spain. However my phone number and line contract remain with Telefonica. I have my internet cable and my phone line cable both plugged into the wall socket with a two socket adaptor.
I am not sure that this helps as it sounds like you have a different set up - I was not aware you could totally break away from Telefonica!

I got this from the Orange website, albeit the English one:
Home Max comes with Livebox, our versatile wireless broadband router.
- plug a regular phone into Livebox and calls to UK landlines, Orange mobiles and 30 countries are included in the price
- attach your Xbox or PlayStation and use Livebox to play online video games
- IMPORTANT: If there is a power cut, or a power failure, you will not be able to make or receive any voice calls using your Livebox, including calls to emergency services numbers 999 or 112.
Now, my parents have phones plugged into the BT socket which gives them their home phone number and they also have an 0845 number which shows if they ring via the box. If I ring either number, it rings on their home phone. Confused? I am .
I don't know if Orange have the same arrangements with Telefonica as they do with BT in that your line rental and such like is payable to them and they administer the phone line? I don't think anyone has any equipment in the local exchanges as they do in the UK (LLU) which routes calls via the Orange system?
