I missed out on the last meet up of our "SENIOR" members, Justin, Rixxy and Smiley in Duquesa but it would be great to meet up with anyone whose available and interested from the 26th March till 18th April. This is such a great forum with many interesting charachters who I'd like to meet sometime?!  Justin, perhaps you should organise an annual "Get Together" ?

Miket !

I am in, and much happier as Marbella is a "civil" distance to drive from Cabopino ( not like Manilva !!! )

Juan.

I am in favour of annual meeting up. Even with a formative character in a style of conferences.  In Natural Park places such as Grazalema. I could find good and cheap speakers and good and cheap places to stay.

It would be fun to have lectures on a wide variety of topics ( legal, cultural, social, food, kids.... ) as it happens ro be interesting for you from the forums. ALso with good fun dinners and fun time of course!!

I am sure we could have Institutional ( Government) support.

What do you think?

Maria

I've changed the title of the thread with a proposed meesting date, 27 March.

I'll certainly be there.

Anyone want to suggest a time and place to meet, or want to change the proposed date?

Maria, we'll have a chat soon about your idea.

There you go again Patrick, Barking up the wrong Tree! Senior up North means something to do with "Time spent doing something" Position of authority etc! Youre not actually getting touchy about a certain number approaching are you? and I don't mean a bus!

By the way Justin, Rixxy,Juan,  Maria and of course Smiley, Morning, Noon or Evening is good for me on the 27th, 28th or 29th.  Now then where did I leave my Stick?

Looking forward to it............................

Is it a white one to ensure people help you through sliding glass doors. Sorry meant to say dont give a toss about the certain number - what Mike is trying (unsuccessfully) to wind me up about is the fact that its my 50th birthday this year - it will be spent in almost exactly the same manner as every other birthday since my 21st - in a gutter with a Vodka bottle - no not really - they aint a big deal to me mate - those that know me will tell you so - still do the same stuoid things I did when I was 18 although a little slower and occasionally slightly more caution - otherwise everything still the same - mentally at least.

We shall actually be in Marbella that day for a meeting with our lawyers in the morning, but will be so tied up afterwards, trying to buy furniture for our apartment, not sure if we can make anything.  But when, and if you all decide on a place and time, let us know just in case we can make it before  heading off to Sr. Nicks!!!

okay, okay, what's the problem with Sr. Nicks?????  Just want to have beds in our apartment before we have to stay there and I was told that they were okay for beds!!!  Pray, tell, should we be looking elsewhere (as close)??

We do not, or at least I, as an expat-mum in Dubai (as the Dubai Gold BBC programme showed!) do not want to be sleeping on bl***y airbeds for two weeks!!!  And, can you buy those airbeds in Carrefour, just in case???

If its only beds you should be alright - which one you going to Estepona town or El Pilar? On the 340 towards Cancelada Cambio there is a bed shop that I think specialises in slightly better quality beds - another one on the opposite carriageway near Las Dunas hotel - think the name of the Commercial Centre for the one westbound is Costasol - its just past Benavista anyway and shortly before Mercadona

Went into the Estepona shop once a few years back and it all seemed to be pretty junky stuff in my view - guess they might be ok now but didnt leave me tempted to go back

Hi there

If you are looking for speakers for the 27th  - Meet up in Marbella - I would be happy to volunteer myself.  I did a presentation at the British Legion a couple of weeks ago which was very very well received, on health insurance.  I work as an independent agent for Helicopteros Sanitarios, the PRimary Medical care service on the CdS and also for A´ la Carte Health, a UK based company with a Spanish office in Calahonda - we provide European and Worldwide Health Insurance, with preferential rates for expats living in Spain and Gib.  The plans are aroudn 25% less expensive than BUPA with more comprehensive benefits.  This product has been extremely well received by my client base because it offers Free choice of doctors, specialists and hospitals , rather than being restricted to an approved network of specialists.  Also, medical costs are reimbursed in full (not 80% like most of the Spanish based policies if you choose to take treatment outside of their approved network).  We also cover alternative medicine and prescribed medication which most other insurances here don´t offer.  And... we take on clients with pre-existing conditions - they are ocvered for all new conditions immediately and pre-existing conditions are covered after a 2 year moritorium if they are treatment free.  Hope this may be of interest to you.  Please let me know.

The reason we're heading for Sr.Nicks is that so many people have said you can get beds that zip link into large doubles!!   Now, if the quality is crap, then we'd rather go somewhere else!!  We just want good beds, both for the main bedroom (average double bed) and second bedroom (zip and link).

Hi Pitby - Hipercor might be a good place to look. Not sure about the zip link beds but they sell beds with a hinged mechanism which enables you to lift up the mattress from the bottom of the bed and store suitcases or bedding in them (and still clean underneath). They probably do them in Carrefour too!

Hi Beverley think the idea for the meeting is to have a bit of a piss up - well perhaps not exactly a piss up but  a few drinks and a chat - the last one in Duquesa was very informal with a few friends chatting - organisational ability is probably not high on the agenda like a business club - dont know what the other likely attendees think but my view anyway

helicopteros is great soy socio myself and they have been very useful

Rose if you come back on here I am leaving in two minutes

Sorry to go off-thread!!

Thanks, Rose.  Is Hipercor the one in Puerto Banus?  Or is there one somewhere else?

I can see that, whenever you all meet up on 27th, we're going to be in some furniture store somewhere!!  The joy, the joy!!!!

Morning Pitby

There's a Hipercor in Banus and a new one in Fuengirola (Mijas Costa). The main department store, El Corte Ingles, charge top money but the supermarket is quite good. Anyway, back to the thread in hand - I might be able to come along for the meet-up if it doesn't clash wit the school run. Speaking of which, I'd better go and get my porridge or the little one will be late.......
