Quickie about non chip and pin bank cards...

Hi all;

Is it possible to use non chip and pin credit cards, issued by our Spanish bank, in anything over than cash machines in the UK?

In other words can they be used at any retail outlet...?

If you walked into my shop you could use it.......

I would need to see some form of photo identification ie passport or driving licence......

It would be processed by my card machine and I would get charged slightly more (2.5% instead of 2% ).

Having said that I have a shop in a tourist location and we get people from all over the world using all sorts of cards.

I dont think the major retailers and garages etc etc would accept the card.

They will in 99% of cases only accept a chip and pin cards.....many of them will not, I suspect, accept a chip and signature card.
