The Costa Blanca News: Despite high circulation in the southern Costa Blanca at a considerable cost of 1.80€ a copy there is a heavy bias in favour of entertainment events on the northern region. Of eight events featured only one is south of Alicante and this a children’s musical event.
Coincidence! The same newspaper’s Costa Update section sets out the forthcoming entertainment / cultural events: Of the 52 listed only 17 of them are south of Alicante.
Charitable events always get priority exposure. Charity events, whilst being worthy causes are in direct and unfair competition to professional musicians.
As a consequence of this unfair competition and priority exposure many professional entertainers are returning to the UK or are redundant; yet another nail in the coffin of tourism.
There IS favouritism. Palma Concerts never fail to have an event featured in The Post, a Costa Blanca News supplement. Very often that one COMMERCIAL organisation get two features in any one issue. It is rare for The Post to feature an entertainment event or musician south of Alicante. Is it time for everyone who lives south of Alicante to boycott the Costa Blanca News?
