On a more positive note I composed the words © for the song, Torre-Vieja. There was an enthusiastic response when first played and sung at Coopers Bar-Restaurant at Dona Pepa by the Jackie Barrie Duo recently. It is already receiving congratulations and good wishes. I hope you enjoy it but anyone thinking of recording it should note its copyright status. - Michael.
(To the Tune of the Beer Barrel Polka : Roll out the Barrel)
Torre – vieja,
Raise up our glasses to you;
Torre – vieja
We love you; we’ve never been blue;
Torre – vieja,
Your beaches, your plazas and palms –
Lift up your copa de cana,
Your sun; al fresco is mine.
You’re home to Herman, the German from Bonn,
And Ivan from Russia; the Don
Paddy, and Jasmine and Leif –
Julie, and José with wife.
We raise the Cava, Rioja and beer;
We build our lives in the sun and good cheer,
Happy, la risa; we roam
In Torre - vieja, our home.
Torre – vieja,
Raise up our glasses to you;
Torre – vieja
We love you; we’ve never been blue;
Torre – vieja,
Your beaches, your plazas and palms –
Lift up your copa de cana,
Your sun; al fresco is mine.
My neighbour’s Paul from Belgium’s Ostend,
And Tanya’s from Holland’s Uden –
We came by air, by rail and by sea,
Each is welcome to join you and me;
We raise the Cava, Rioja and beer;
We build our lives in the sun and good cheer,
Happy, la risa; we roam
In Torre - vieja, our home.
