The effect of the murcia regional government 's decision to abolish the regional allowance is to put people off moving there, or being a non resident, depriving the state of much needed money, so they are not saving anything by taking this action.Since the ways to reduce IHT have serious drawbacks - what do you advise the inhabitants of murcia to do, Maria ? Why hasn't the regional government been made to reverse their terrible decision?

Having a bank account with Bankia in Mojacar for 5 years, They closed the bank & now the nearest office is now in Almeria 40 miles away. We closed the account but now they want to charge us 150 euros for closing the account.

I agree with you that Murcia Regions government should revert the status of IHT. Specially as it is a regions which is bein more and more visited and boosted by foreign pensioners.

Is there any point in letting the regional government of Murcia how we feel about this, and how would we do it? the abolishing of the regional IHT allowances was the last straw for us, and we can no longer stay here. I wonder if the majority of ex pats here are even aware of the IHT situation!

I agree Camposol. we have been deciding whether to finally retire to Spain or France and the IHT situation has been a major factor in our decision, Spain came last :(

Is it worthwhile, and can it be done, to transfer a property from personal ownership into a UK company without having to pay transfer taxes in order to solve the IHT matter, or is it also too costly?

The firm which does this advertises in the expat press.Why don't you get in touch and find out all about it, from the horses mouth?
Remember, if a thing seems to be too good to be true....
There will be costs involved, and I have heard that This solution is not for Mr and
Mrs Average.
