Twas the noche buena and all through the flat
Not a creature was stirring, not even a rat
Jamones were hung in the kitchen with care
Bought with their earnings increasingly rare
The children were up, still hadn´t be fed
Whilst visions of seafood danced in their heads
And mama at her cooker and I in my car
Off to meet friends to relax in the bar
When out on the terrace there arose such a clatter
Abuelo gets up as he fancies a natter
Away to the calle I flew like a flash
The primos arrive to join in on the bash
The sun on the breast of the new fallen rain
Giving the sign its turning hotter again
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a big MPV, one baby sat at the rear
More rapid than eagles his presents they came
Soon to be cast aside when the reyes did the same
Now Playstation, now wii, now ipod and more
Carbon for naughty ones, yet more toys galore
To the top of the stairs, bags bursting so full
“Someone please help me to carry it all!”
He spoke not a word but went straight to his work
Filling his plate then turned with a jerk
And putting his hand aside of the knife
Sticks his head in the kitchen to check with his wife
He sprang to the door, to the kids gave a whistle
And they all flew down like the down of a thistle
But I heard him exclaim, as they put up a fight
Feliz Navidad, now who wants a slice?
