IT’S NOT the first time that agents from the Guardia Civil have been accused of falsifying evidence or handing out tickets purely for the purpose of raising revenue. Motoring organisations and pressure groups have often highlighted the fact that the DGT seems more concerned with making it easier to pay a traffic fine rather than implementing road safety measures, using such tactics as placing speed cameras on straight sections of roads rather than accident hot spots and purchasing a helicopter with the sole purpose of identifying driving violations but again, not adding to any road safety initiatives, apart from possibly handing out driving bans.
