The colours of the Spanish Flamenco
Friday, December 26, 2014 @ 10:40 AM

The day before yesterday, I could listen, on the radio, an interview to a Spanish group named FLAMENCO KIDS. They have a song, titled “Colorín”. And this song is based in another famous song, titled “Garrotín”. The spanish group SMASH published this song (The Garrotín) in 1978. The Garrotín is a "Palo" (a type of composition, inside Flamenco) and it was the first time that the fusion among Flamenco and Rock happened in Spain.I have found a video, where the famous Spanish singer, Peret, sings the song “Garrotín”. If you want to watch the video with Peret singing, please click on the link below:

      Here, Peret sings this lyrics:

Al garroting, al garrotán,

A la vera, vera, vera de San Juan.

Al garrotín, al garrotán,

De la vera, vera, vera de San Juan.

Canto a mi tia María,

Canto a mi tia Teresa,

Canto a mi tia Teresa,

Canto a mi tia María,

In English:

To little stick, to big stick,

next to, next to, next to Saint John.

To Little stick, to big stick,

next to, next to, next to Saint John.

I sing to my aunt Mary,

I sing to my aunt Theresa,

that no one in the world has an aunt like that.

And little stick, and big stick,

that from the edge of Saint John.

And to Little stick, and to big stick,

next to, next to, next to Saint John.

I sing to my aunt Theresa,

I sing to my aunt Mary,

If I sing to only one,

the other would be angry.

And to little stick and to big stick,

that from the next to Saint John.

And to Little stick and to big stick,

From next to, next to, next to Saint John.

And to little stick and to big stick,

that from the next to Saint John.

And the garro garro garro garrotín and garrotán,

that from the next to Saint John.

And the garro, and the garro and to little stick and to big stick,

And the garro garro  little stick and to big stick,

that from the next to Saint John.

Well, I found a very nice video, with the song “Colorín”, by FLAMENCO KIDS. If you want to watch this video, please click the link below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93tSJyRcWvo

This is the lyrics, in Spanish:

mmmmm….¿qué os apetece hacer pequeños genios?

¡¡¡Queremos pintaaar!!!

Tran tran tran tran treiro

Treiro treiro treiro tran

Estribillo

Al colorín y al coloran

ya mezclamos los colores

y a pintar.

El rojo y el amarillo

Mezclados nos da el

Naranja;

Pero que rica es esta fruta,

que te alegra la mañana.

Estribillo

Al colorín y al coloran

ya mezclamos los colores

y a pintar.

Si mezclas rojo y azul

Si mezclas rojo y azul

Ya tenemos el morao

Su nombre suena a guitarra

Y a flamenco en el colmao

Estribillo

Al colorín y al coloran

ya mezclamos los colores

y a pintar.

El azul y el amarillo

se funden y nace el verde

el de la roca de Orsea

cuando sube la marea

Al colorín y al coloran

ya mezclamos los colores

y a pintar.

Ya sabemos de colores

Para empezar a ser pintores

Que con pinceles y amores

Haréis cuadros a montones

Al colorín y al coloran

ya mezclamos los colores

y a pintar (bis)

Repite

Al colorín y al coloran

ya mezclamos los colores

y a pintar

Repite

Al colorín y al colorán.

        A mi hijo Luis:

Agradezco, de todo corazón, a los que seguís apoyando este proyecto, porque nos anima a seguir creciendo. Clinclines de colores, en especial para Agustín García Barcia, Tessy Diez Martín, José del Pozo Portillo, a la familia Beresaluze Torregrosa, Raquel Sardá, Julio García, Carmen Ros, Cristina Fernandez Correa, Angela Morales, para toda la pandilla Flamenco Kids, y, por supuesto, para todos vosotros…..PEQUEÑOS GENIOS.

This is the lyrics, in English:

mmmmm ... .what do you feel like, little geniuses?.

We want to paint !!!.

Come on, Orsea, sing us what Grabi taught you, to learn to paint.

Tran tran tran tran treiro

Treiro treiro treiro tran

Chorus:

To little colour, and to big colour,

We already mix the colors and to paint….

Red and yellow,

mixed gives us the orange.

But what richer than that fruit is,

that cheers your morning up.

Chorus:

To little colour,  and to big colour,

we already mix the colours and to paint.

Music……….

If you mix red and blue,

If you mix red and blue,

we have purple.

His name sounds like guitar

and flamenco in the *shop.

Chorus:

To little colour and to big colour

and we mix the colors and to paint.

Music…………………

Blue and yellow

are joined and green is born

Of the, of the Orsea´s rock

when the tide is going up.

To Little color, to big colour

We already mix the colors and to paint.

Music……………………

We already know of colors,

to start being painters,

that with brushes and love

I will make paintings a lot.

Chorus:

And to little colour and to big colour,

we already mix the colours and to paint.

repeat

And to little colour and to big colour

We already mix the colours and to paint.

repeat

And to little colour and to big colour.

Note:  Shop (Colmado), here means: "Shop feeding"
