Today, I would like to tell you that on July 4, I could see, in the program "Andalucía Directo", a very interesting report about a salt mine, which is in Isla Cristina (Huelva, Costa de la Luz, Southwest of Spain). The salt mine is called "Flor de Sal Salinas of Isla Cristina Biomaris".

Formerly, there were 27 salt mines, in the province of Huelva; but, now, only this one remains. It belonged to a German company, which marketed cosmetic products. Then a man bought it, who only sold fat salt. And 15 years ago, his daughter (Manuela) took it, to create the company "Flor de Sal Salinas of Isla Cristina Biomaris", which sells Flor de sal (Salt flower), Escamas de sal (Scales salt), Sal marina de grano gordo (Fat grain sea salt), and Aceite de magnesio (Magnesium oil). But, in addition, it has pools with magnesium oil and also offer massages with that oil. All this is done in an artisanal way, as in the time of the Romans.

Manuela's father taught her the trade of salt mine. Then, she started to market the Flor de sal –because she knew a sir, who taught her how to get de Flor de salt, in Seville--. The Flower of salt is that layer, on the surface of the water --but it does not touch the water--; it is like the cream of the milk, which is formed, when it is cooled, on top of the coffee. It is very difficult to collect. Its existence depends on weather.

The Flower of salt is marketed in Germany, the Netherlands and France. In Biomaris, they mix the flower of salt with spices --like rosemary, for example-- because many customers ask for it.
You can buy some products by phone. This is the telephone number: 610 08 59 90.

You can buy Magnesium Oil --in case you can not go to the Biomaris pool, although it should be the best, because they would give you some massages with that oil there--. Magnesium oil is a liquid of Magnesium chloride, produced naturally, there in the salt mine of Biomaris. The qualifier "oil" is for the oily sensation, which leaves on the skin.
Magnesium oil can be sprayed on the skin, avoiding the mucous membranes and it is better to apply it on the upper parts of the feet, behind the knees and in the armpits, for a rapid distribution throughout the body, through the lymphatic system. The absorption increases if you massage on the skin.
The most known benefits of magnesium are its properties as a muscle relaxant, to relieve: arthritis, arthritis, psoriasis, warts, fibromyalgia, hair loss and coadjuvant in the absorption of calcium. Magnesium is a vital mineral to keep us healthy and is essential for the functioning of our organism.
It also participates in the duplication of DNA and in the transmission of nerve impulses, regulates blood sugar levels, intervenes in the relaxation and contraction of muscles preventing cramps, contractures, vertigo, dizziness or fatigue, favours the absorption and metabolism of other minerals and helps regulate body temperature in addition to maintaining healthy bones, joints, cartilage and teeth.
In the Marismas Natural Area of Isla Cristina, located at the mouth of the Rio Carreras, the birds are protected. The marshes in general are humid areas, low and marshy lands that are flooded by the waters of the sea, during high tide.
