Today in the morning, I was listening a spanish radio station and, suddenly, they talked about "Funny phrases of children".That made me think about children, their "world", a particular world, special and misunderstood world.
Many times, we (adults and more concretely parents) think that children are more fools than really they are; we think that they do not learn anything; we underestimate their intelligence and we do not trust them; we denied too much --there is a song, by the spanish singer (Juan Manuel Serrat), that says: "Niño, deja ya de molestar con la pelota, que eso no se dice, que eso no se hace, que eso no se toca" = "Child, stop bothering with the ball, that this is not said, it is not done, that is not touched"--.Of course, I think that children must be educated; but also I think that, sometimes, we are a little bit hard with them.
Then, today, in the radio program, they told a story:
A day, one child (Mario), came back to his home, very serious. and his father asked him: "Son, why are you serious?" and Mario answered: "Well, my friend Huguito was very serious because he discussed with his father"."Why?" --asked Mario´s father--."Because Huguito´s father did not let him to go to a place; then, Huguito asked his father why he may not go there and his father told him that it was better for Hugo not to go there; Hugo insisted and asked his father why he knew that it was better. Then, Hugo´s father told him that he (the father) had more experience, he had read much more than Hugo.....and so on...." --told Mario to his father--. Then, Mario´s father said:"Clear, Mario, Hugo´s father is on right: he has much more experience than Huguito, he knows much more than his son".Then, he told his father: "Then, also you know much more than I. Well, dad: "Who invented the telephone?", and his father answered him: "Well, the telephone was invented by a Sir, named Alexander Graham Bell".And Mario answered his father:"And why it was not invented by his father, if he knew much more than his son?".
After that story some people phoned to the radio station in order to tell their own stories, with their children: mothers and fathers telling phrases said by their children. It was very funny and interesting. And I have thought that, perhaps, you should like to know some phrases said by some spanish children.
One funny phrase, said on the radio, was: a rescuer told that a day, he was working in a swimmingpool and he saw a little girl, 6 years old, more or less, who got into the pool and, when she made standing in the pool, she cried: "Ésta sí tiene suelo" = "This one does have ground".
Another story: Marta, 4 years old, a day she heard that Humans comes from donkey. Then, she asked her mother: "Mamá, ¿Cuando tú eras mono, ya llevabas gafas?" "Mom, when you were monkey, already you wore glasses?".
Other story: In the infant school, where Manuel ( 3 years old ) goes, also some babies go. A day, Manuel was seing how a baby, 10 months old, was reading a story --how he was passing the pages of it-- , while the baby was babbleing nonstop, and Manuel told his teacher: "No me gusta nada cómo lee en Inglés" = "I do not like how it reads in English".
David, 5 years old, asked his parents: "¿Vosotros, cuando yo tenga novia, dónde vais a vivir?" = "When I have girlfriend, where you will live?".
Pedro, 4 years old: his parents decided to make the identification card for Pedro, two months ago, and it has arrived two weeks ago. When Pedro´s mother showed it to him, Pedro cried: "Uy, qué bien...., ahora ya puedo conducir" = "Oops, that well..., now I can drive".
