Mas re-elected as president of Catalunya, but his sovereignty mission loses CiU 12 seats

CATALÁN president Artur Mas has won the regional elections – but calling them has cost his party 12 seats. After the final count, Mas' party CiU (Convergència i Unió) were left with 50 seats, with nearest rivals ERC (Esquerra Republicana Catalunya, or 'left republicans') gaining 11 seats for a total of 21, followed by the Catalán Socialist Party (PSC) losing eight for a total of 20 seats.
