Historic success for social campaigners: Repossession laws changed at the public's request

A LANDMARK ruling in Parliament has seen mortgage and repossession legislation changed thanks to a widespread society campaign. This People's Legislative Initiative (PLI) was due to be rejected by the PP government despite having been signed by over 1.4 million members of the public – more than three times what is needed to enforce a change in the law.

Fantastic news! Even though this will make it even harder for renters like me to get a mortgage, better that than have families thrown onto the street or people saddled with huge debts and no house.

This is one of the many reasons why I love living in Spain; people aren't so taken in by the 'inevitable' and mendacious free-market nonsense we get in the UK. There IS such a thing as society and it means we all have a duty to care if our fellow citizens are being made homeless in the name of profit.

At last people power now maybe the thieves in the Goverment and banks might stop and take note that the people of Spain are fed up with being put on I suggest they look at France and what happen there beween 1789 and 1802 Spain is part of the Europe now they signed up nobody forced them its time they they got there act together and started treating the people of Spain with some repect
