Actors' Guild response to Montoro: “Spanish actors who pay their tax abroad do so because they work there”

FILM stars have hit back at Spain's finance minister for accusing them of crippling the economy by not paying their taxes in their home country on their multi-million earnings. Cristóbal Montoro's controversial comments in Parliament - “We don't have our own Gérard Dépardieu, because we don't need to; if Spanish film stars paid their taxes in Spain, we wouldn't have to increase these for the ordinary citizen” - have incensed the country's Actors' Guild. Its spokesman, Iñaki Guevara responded: “This seems rich coming from a political party with tax-evasion issues.”
