Hi
Well I too have just returned from our apartment in Portofino block 6, 3rd floor.
We had one or too intial problems but found Charmaine and Wayne from DBJ very helpful. As was the case with Sam at Proindal who organised an electrician and he  was very prompt and reliable sorting out a lighting problem for us.
A word of Advice for anyone who is taking over there apartment My wife and I spent quite a bit of our week cleaning through our apartment and scrubbing the floors to get them clean. A deep clean is required as the basic clean is very superficial if you dont have the time invest a little bit more money to get the place scrubbed.
We had three of the five lifts working so access was good and during the week there were other people and companies moving furniture into their respective apartments.
The pool was not ready but during the week a couple of liferings and pots for plants arrived and a guy was on the phone whilst sizing up the cleaning of the pool area so I expect that is in the very near future.

We are very pleased with our apartment and are looking forward now to our next visit it would be good to get to know others in the complex.

Regards
Andy & Helen

Hi We were in Almerimar last week also and had a look around our apartment in Block 2 third floor for the first time. They have almost finished it, just the kitchen units to go in, Sam and the site forman showed us around we went up in the lift. Sam is a great asset to Proindal, she gets a lot of stick from disgruntled customers as she,s the English girl in the office. When we came out of PortoFino we went into the square and had a word with Richard in Alcor property about the rental market etc, time well spent. We just feel so relaxed in Almerimar, sat in La Plaza having a cold beer and free tapas or in Al-Aruz for our evening meal or walking on the beach or swimming in the sea. The beaches were quite busy too as the weather is great. Its good to hear that you are pleased with your apartment Andy & Helen, we were pleased with what we have seen of ours. Kind regards Ian & Joanna Ps going to try and upload some photos, there is one from our balcony looking towards the new club house and one of a large American boat in the marina.

I visited my property today 27th june, and it is almost finished everywhere in Porto Fino.. As I was there last  6 weeks ago, on the  13th may for a  quick look, it was a building site with cranes etc., all around.... and I  personally felt no way would it be ready on time...well what a transformation today. The roads are all  with tarmac, pavements are done, lamp-posts erected. The few remaining workers are tidying up outside,[ little paint jobs.] The pool shared by 4 blocks just needs the little mosaic tiles fitted. The other pool was only needing a clean, this one will be shared with 3 blocks
Block 1,   inside, the lifts are in operation, the marble tiled floors are pretty, the wall cladding design is pretty in the communal hall areas leading to apartments. Once inside nothing seemed disappointing as all the rooms are of a reasonable size.   The kitchen units are "FRANKE" which is a good make. The bathroom was lovely with beige tiles. Balcony had a sea view, golf course view and  was not as close to other buildings as another block.
A measure up was carried out and I still have to check the sizing with contract.
Block 4, 2nd floor, portal 2, had the same as above inside but I was very disappointed once out on balcony  when viewed, as the next block is so close it is
back to back with your neighbours....you could play ball...throwing to each other and not  dropping once. The mind boggles at the thought of "other things" e.g. "What will the neighbours SEE", I am sorry to say this block has no privacy  from the balcony .
Proindal are professional and have their office nearby the development. Maria Dolores is also an asset to the company, she was polite, courteous, and speaks good english, therefore there was no problem in showing us around. Any purchaser can put on an appointment to view their apartment  without wearing hard hats.  It is looking grand and quite majestic among the other buildings.

Hi,

Glad you liked the place. You picked a very busy time to come over. July and August are always busy. It is a very different here in the winter. Much quieter and a lot less events going on.

In the case of satellite TV there are two companies based in Almerimar. One is Absolute Satellites, the other is Oakview. We have tended to deal with Absolute Satellites. However, depending on what is happening in your apartment blocks one of the companies may be putting in communal dishes so you may have to go with them unless you have an atico with access to some private roof space.

FYI - most  urbanisations tend to have rules against you installing dishes that are visible on your terrace so watch out for that issue as if it is in the rules of the urbanisation they can force you to remove the dish.

Also, If you go to the almerimar24 site and click on News Topics under News Section in the menu on the left, then use the search facility to search for  satellite TV you will see an article from 6 Feb 2008 on this subject.  It may be of interest to you if you are considering satellite TV for your apartment here in Almerimar. It is the article as the bottom of the list of search results.

John

PS If you do approach Absolute Satellites or any other company that you hear about from us please be sure to mention that you heard about them from Almerimar24. It helps us give feedback to local businesses who might then consider advertising with us or renewing advertising with us. Thanks.

Thanks Al24
We have been over in November when it was much quieter but still loved it.
Last time we were over the guy from Absolute was speaking with Sam at proindal and trying to get an introduction to the community people so I presume we will have to sit tight and watch things develop.
I have already read the topic on the 24 site and like all your topics find it most informative and helpfull.
Could you tell me the cost fof the golf for anyone who arrivesat the apartment to play.
Thanks for the help
We will have to get to meet you at some point
Andy & Herlen

Hi,

We love the summer because the golf course is very quiet and they run lots of open golf competitions here. But the port is normally busy and a little noisy for us.

In the winter, the golf course is much busier and the port is quieter. For us, the winter is nice as we have a lot more of the regular golfers here for the Friday golf competitions we run. We normally get between 30-40 people each Friday and it is good to see our friends from across europe.

I searched for 2008 golf prices on Almerimar24 and came up with this story:

http://www.almerimar24.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=294

I half remembered Jacqui or I scanning the leaflet in earlier this year. If you have not played the course yet there are 27 holes. The Master course is the original 18 holes and the Classic course is a shorter 9 hole course they added a couple of years ago. As you will see the standard price is 65 euros for the master course with a lower price of 45 euros in the summer months. With further discounts if you buy 7 green fees.

As well as these prices the hotel/course normally do some form of deal with discounted tickets for regulars who want to buy in bulk and play throughout the year.  The deal varies from year to year but is what the regulars take up to get further discounted prices. The owners don´t like this information being published so send me a PM or contact me via almerimar24 if you want details of this.

FYI - we wrote an article about the open golf competitions and the Spanish federation some time ago. This information might be useful for any golfers who come over regularly. Here is it is:

http://www.almerimar24.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=47

If you would like to meet up sometime either send me a PM or contact us via Almerimar24 and we can arrange to meet somewhere in the port for a drink and a natter next time you are over.

John
