Yes,
Well said Phil/Ann.
More & more people are becoming aware of the forums now and the benefits they bring. Although there was not a lot going on early doors and initial contributions to this forum and others were predominantly negative, now the 'ball has got rolling' so to speak ,the interest is much greater and people can report positive experiences to strike a balance against all the early negative posts. I have read a lot and posted little myself but now there is something real to talk about and not just the likes of contract delays etc I feel more inclined to contribute and look forward to replies and other people's opinions. Great to hear about what people are doing regarding furnishing , air con, other services etc and it all helps stop people feeling lost and alone and out of thier depth. I'm sure we all get a bit of the feel good factor when we see the photo's of the completed article coming together. What with all the doom and gloom surrounding the Spanish (and UK) property markets we must not loose sight of the reason why the majority of us probably bought at Condado. A quality development in superb surroundings in an up and coming area that had not yet been blighted by mass tourism and over development of the ugly kind. I only have to think back to our inspection tour (I only considered and viewed Polaris developments) and being taken into Torrevieca for a meal one evening, passing some of the gross featureless apartment block developments on scrub land between two roads to make me realise why we went for this. The people who have bought into these god forsaken things are going to be the ones with real problems.
I spent a long week-end at La Torre last year to get a feel for the resorts and was highly satisfied with the overall quality feel to the place. People complain about things being expensive but compare like for like to UK and no real difference. Competion will bring prices lower as more of the developing resorts compete for the same customers. Condado will take time and it will certainly not be a bed of roses but as long as we do not see a sudden loss of confidence in the concept (although a slowing down must be inevetable) and the golf courses are built as promised, I think this will be the jewel in the crown of the Polaris empire. Although we are the 'cheaper' properties, we will share the same facilities provided for 500,00 - 100,000 euro villas when it all eventually knits together. Things may be flat for a while to come but when they go again they will go at some rate of knots. Hold your hats !!

Hope it hasnt been too negative in the early days, probably the developing understanding of buying off plan.. I think most of us have been trying to make a query or point in a few words and maybe that didnt come over as too positive all the time. Think we had a few shared worries about fixtures and fittings but as it all becomes real I'm sure it'll be great. Oh, there was the changing of the Foro too, but even that may turn out well in the end- bigger and better plus a small outlet in the sports boulevard. I think we all welcome newcomers straight away, new views are appreciated because they offer a different perspective. The forum has been a great source of information- good fun too.

Hi everyone,
We are in Belfast and have bought on Los Naranjos - Jardines 8 (now 9 with the changes)!
We are waiting for a date but expect nothing much before Aug/Sep. We went across to see the show apts on Jardines and were impressed by the finish so we hope that all the apartments are finished to the same high standard. We stayed in Puerto de Mazarron in a lovely hotel (La Cumbre) while we toured around the area. We thought the furniture shops were quite pricey for the decent stuff and the cheaper packages were very basic! Lke others have commented we felt that joining the Owners Club was a total waste of money, they have hardly been in touch with us since we bought and their services have lacked the same enthusiasm they had at the initial selling stage. We had a fab night at the Hilton Hotel in Belfast hosted by PW and met others who had purchased properties through PW. If anyone has a property near us, please stay in touch and we can exchange info. as we get it.

Hi Violet
We're in the same boat - no bank guarantees yet - but have instructed our solicitor and advised Polaris that there will be no more payments until the bank guarantees are recieved. As long as you lodge the funds with your solicitor you are not in breach of contract - Polaris are for not providing the guarantees.

We did the same thing whilst waiting for our bank guarantees last year, although we didn't even lodge the funds with our solicitor as we paid our first two stage payments directly to PW. I just sent an e-mail to PW advising that until the bank guarantee was received, I would not be making the next stage payment and very politely pointing out that their failure to provide the bank guarantee following receipt of the first payment was a breach of contract on their part. We managed to keep the second stage payment funds in a savings account earning interest for an extra couple of months or so, earning a bit more interest!
There was no problem with this and I think it probably encouraged them to get the bank guarantee applied for straightaway. It seems as though they don't actually apply for the bank guarantees untl they are pressed to do so, particularly if people with-hold future payments.

I think every subject eventually gets round to the guarantees !
Unless pressed hard PW just will not provide them as they are 'bank backed' so its the same as them having a loan facility from the bank and costs them money to provide................
Anyway this subject was about playing hide and seek - we should be able to have a great game of that at Condado........ I'll be in the bar if anyone wants me, then on various peoples terraces collecting drinks on the way back from the now 3km walk to the watering holes
