I can't recommend the Hotel La Cumbre (in Puerto de Mazarron) enough for value, cleanliness and attractiveness.  It is only a 15-20 min drive from Condado and SOOOOOO relaxing.  A nice stroll to the shops and beach too.  You should manage to get a rate of around £30-£35 per night for 2.  If you go to www.hotellacumbre.com yo will get rates etc. I stayed there last week when I went over to complete and liked it so much I've booked again for a few nights in July.  Ask for a sea view room on the booking form.
