Just come back from whirlwind weekend visit - (absolutely great) - there are signs advertising bullfighting in Vera on 19th July.

The "bullfight" advertised for 19th July in Vera is not exactly your conventional bullfight.  It is acrobatics, the "bullfighters" run at the bulls and then vault over them, either from the side or the most spectacular is a head on run and he then grabs the bulls horns and flips it over.  There is no bloodshed at these events.

To find out when the next bullfight proper is, call in at the bullring in Vera, or keep your eyes open for the posters that go up about 2 weeks before the event.  There are different prices depending where you sit, either in the sun or shade, (sol o sombra) the shade being dearest, of course

I'm pretty sure there is a "real" bullfight at Vera in September every year - I spoke to the very helpful guy at the Bullring and there are several during the year starting in February/March and I seem to recall approx every 3 months or so.

For those interested, he will also provide you with a tour of the arena including the museum below and the clinical area - for a tip.

Hi, we had a full tour from the Old guy when we went for a look round. He's very proud of the place. Last October we caught a bullfight in Vera. It was one of those things you have to do really. We did enjoy the spectical of it but after about 4 fights we did start to get a bit bored with the routine of each fight. From the point of view of an event, it was great, Great for people watching and it was great to be at an event where you can take cooler box's full of food and drinks and not get ripped off having to buy selected products within the Stadium. This lead to a far better occasion and again you can see how family orientated the Spanish are.

probably too late now, but  there is a conventional bullfight in Los Gallardos on Saturday 19th July starting at 6-30pm in a mobile bullring

Syl saw some new signs up today in Vera, there is a bullfight on 9th August in Vera, start time is 10-30PM (yes that´s right) don´t know any more details.
