Ten Most Asked Questions
- Is the Presidents job paid
NO!!! but what I do know is at times it is taking on average 3-4 hours of my day, with visits for keys/Payments/Snagging probs /e-mails/ administration etc (Only this year for some of the things - hopefully)
- What is the hardest facts to get over to the community
Making people aware that they are not my rules/laws but Spanish laws they are being asked to abide by, and that I am only the community figure head, also I am not the person with whom they should be making it personal , but I am following the wishes of the majority of the community, other things such as the pool water being healthy and clean, safety equipment being available, extra police patrols when we had problems, etc. do not happen themselves, time money and effort are what it takes
- If the money is coming in and more people are organising their payments what’s the problem
It is not coming in fast enough at present, although it is gaining momentum, we have pool cleaning bills, electric bills, admin bills, bought equipment bills, insurance bills etc, the up side is many bits of the expenditure are a one off, and more people are setting up their payments, therefore as the year goes on we should get in front, although we are coming into the third quarter and you wonder why I prompt and ask
- If I do not use the pool why do I have to pay my community money
This is the Spanish Community law (once more -- not mine)
- Will the payments be cheaper next year
Well our big plus will be, we will know how much we really need for all our bits, i.e. Pool man, insurance, electric etc. This year was based on a guess figure plus percent for extras. But keep in mind we have already cut about three thousand euro from this years forecasted budget
- What is the most complained about thing ---- besides the President
The grass round the pool, what can we do about this, well it comes back to funding and agreement, about getting it removed and a new surface laid, this could be done at the AGM. In January / February (to be decided) and the cost built into next years budget
- Why do we have Adfinsur
It is not a legal requirement to have an administrator (It is to have a President) , but this year being our first year they have been invaluable and have guided, and advised me about many things in Spanish law, and community organisation, they have handled our finances, sent and paid invoices, acted as interpreters, Organised meetings recorded minutes, and many more bits that as a one man band I could not have done by myself,
- Will we need Adfinsur next year
I can only pass on my thoughts, and it will be up to the community to decide, but did you know that if everybody paid their money this back up service would cost you 5.5 Euro a month each, This cost includes paper / ink /time / e-mails and all of the things I mentioned before
- Will we ever be a Community adhering to all in the constitution
I do not think so at this stage, we have had the gate vote, and other things that went against the original rules, there is still a bit of “I will do it anyway”, but I have an open mind that if its done the proper way we can agree on changing things to suit the majority, but always keeping in mind that this is the majority of peoples biggest investment
- Will I stand for re-election
I do believe this is the hardest year getting things established, getting the money set up, knowing the budget outlay and pit falls, hopefully all this will be in place at year end
I do recommend a proper committee next year (although we could not even get a President this year) as this would make admin etc less time consuming, and avoid one person being the scape goat for all, and also it should stop things becoming personal
So to all my fans-------And to the other majority of people --------YOU MUST BE JOKING!!!!!
