I am sorry to read of the troubles many of you are having. It sounds like a real nightmare. Despite all of the issues so far, I am still considering buying in the Arcos area. This forum has been a great source of information on the demise of Sunset. But who do I contact now? Googling "Novo Arcos" and "Romanber" hasn't got me anywhere yet. So can any of you point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

Hello Lambert2 seeing you cannot get a PM i'll put it here.
The best person to deal with is Luis F. Mendez Banderas.
He is a lawyer based in Estepona who has dealt with this Development from day one.He has first hand info. on what is going on and you do not need to go through the rumour mill.He speaks good English.
His contact details UK No. 0121 288 8803
Spain tel. +34 952793130
E-mail; lfmendez@vallejoabogados.com
I believe the Novo Arcos development to be a good purchase as I have invested in it myself, prices are good and the location is excellent.
If you need more info let me know.
Regards
Barry

Thank you Barry & Nigel. Appreciate the info.
We are at a very early stage in our research into this. Our search is deliberately wide at this stage. We've not settled on a town yet, let alone which development or whether to even go for an older property in town. We'll be heading to the area in October to look around. I'll contact these people nearer the time of our trip.
Thank you.

Hi Barry
We have visited Spain many times and have found the Arcos / Jerez by far the best area we have been to. It is not to everyone's taste, there is a distinct lack of 'Watney's red Barrel' and 'All day full English Breakfast' bars but there is wlidlife, nature and a wide variety of other interesting things. It is impossible not to like the place, and the locals are so much more friendly that down on the Costa's, Although I have to admit we have not spent anything like as much time there as we would have liked (yet) but I have not heard a bad word said about the people or place. We are not due to complete until early next year . I'm sure if you contacted Paul at Spanish Solutions he would show you round. If you do find anywhere that compares to this area please let me know.

Hi Lambert2,
I am not sure if you have managed to work out yet who is the best point of contact if you are interested in purchasing at Novo Arcos, reading this site I can imagine must make your decision quite difficult. In my opinion the best person to speak to is esther from Spanish Solutions. The one person I do not recomend that you deal with is Luis Mendez, he was very much involved with the previous agents "Sunset Estates" and throughout our transaction he at one stage told our lawyer he no longer worked for Sunset Estates, which we later established was not true.
I hope this helps.
Regards, LA

Looks like everyone has an opinion on which lawyer to use.
My dealings with Luis Mendez have always been positive, I believe Paul from Spanish Solutions has had dealings with him when he bought an apartment from me, perhaps Paul can comment on his experience good or bad.
Sunset Estates are the real problem here and they have moved on to pastures new and there is very little we can do about the situation they left some unfortunate people in.
At least you can get information from the lawyer who has dealt with this Project from conception in English and I certainly would not deal with Romanber direct as they are worse to deal with then Sunset !!
I hope you all find solutions to your problems in a very difficult time and do not part with your money to any tradesmen untill the job is completed to your satisfaction.
Regards
Barry

hello
We have spent the last six weeks in Arcos staying at our appt for the first time. having had dealings with the previous agent(Sunset) we were not keen to put all our eggs in one basket regards agents etc again. To this end we used a local carpenter to fit our kitchen to our specification including granite surfaces for much less than previous quotes. We bought all white goods through a local shop having first visited a big electrical place in jerez to get comparison price list. The local shop beat their prices and delivered and fitted all whte goods and cooker etc. We bought furniture from Radio Hogar shop nearby (and some Ikea) which was delivered the same afternoon again at very competitive prices. Air con and lights also fitted at competitive prices against previous quotes by local Spanish guy. All the above money was mostly spent locally across a variety of businesses.
Our Spanish is 'holiday' at best so we worked through a locally based English lady with fluent spanish who also helped us at the Notary with Will etc without having to get agents etc involved. Judy also checked on the progress of the work for us leading up to our visit and sent us update photographs etc of progress etc. If anybody wants any details of any of this feel free to send us a pm.
The lift in block 1 is now working as are the electrics in the common areas
Hope this helps
