Moll - I'm Irish but not on Corvera, I bought on Roda. Happy to share experiences with you.
Although we were initially introduced tp Roda by MRI we did all our dealing direct with Calidona. Better than relying on an agent in my opinion. A lot of the Roda people have moved over to Corvera now.
Barry - in Athlone

Hi nollaig,
How do you intend to rent advertise privately or go with corvera, from experience I think privately is best.Buy and sell is fantastic also post boards in workplaces.

Hi Moll,
We're irish (Greystones, Wicklow) and we're in the process of completing on our apartment in RODA - we too bought direct from Calidona. We initially came over with MRI and had a horrible experience with them so we ditched them and found our way to RODA independantly - no difference in price but the world of difference in manners!!!! I think you're better off buying directly.
We are completing next week - 18 months later than scheduled - but that seems to be par for the course with developers in Spain - I don't think it's peculiuar to Calidona. Getting information along the way has been difficult and frustrating - they work at their own pace - but I think most buyers are happy with the finished product. We've been over a few times and stayed in various RODA properties and were very impressed with the quality of the apartments and the common areas. We're really looking forward to getting our own place.
Best of Luck with your purchase.....just take completion date with a large pinch of salt!

Hi viv,
Same experience went over with mri bought but months later no property having paid the deposit phoned a month later to discover the property had already been sold to another party. we contacted Pablo and got our money back.We then went direct to corvera to discover the price had risen by30k. so we settled for a 2nd floor instead of the original penthouse.

Hi Moll,
That must have been really annoying! Hope all goes well for you with this contract.
Just one tip....if it's not too late....try to get Calidona to give you a precise floor plan of your apartment, and which way it will face, so you know what to expect. We visited several versions of the 3 bed apartment and it took us a while to find out which one we were getting. Luckily it was the lay-out that we preferred. However, we were originally under the impression that we would have a pool view but this turned out to be incorrect - bit disappointing but if everything else is okay we'll be happy.
Good Luck.

Hi Moll
We bought the furniture pack and air-conditioning from Calidona because I wanted to keep the option of renting out through them. In the end I used someone els for rentals and key holding. Could have saved some money but suited me to have a one stop shop for complaints and in fairness they are not bad if you play the game with them.
Here is a tip on airconditioning - if your order off Calidona before completion the VAT rate is lower. It goes up if you buy separately afterwards.
In terms of rentals it is quite quiet this year although I was very late getting organised. I spoke to about four operaors before I picked one and am happy so far. Don't know if he will operate in Corvera. He lives next door to Roda and works mainly in that area. Can PM details if you like.
Cheers
Barry

Calidona will want 46 weeks use if you rent through them.
I personally dont have a difficulty with that provided they offer some form of guarantee regarding returns

Hi Moll,
Calidona take the property for 10 months of the year. I think there are restrictions as to how the owners 2 months are divided up - and I gather they need quite a bit of notice if you want to book or change dates.
We decided against Calidona because we hope to use it ouselves as well as renting it, and we wanted flexibility. We plan to advertise it ourselves, using keyholders to arrange check-in, cleaning etc.
If you decide to give Calidona the rental, you must take a very specific furniture package from them as they want to standardise the apartments. If you're not renting thru them you can mix & match items from their range.
We shopped around for furniture and there's no doubt that you can save money by doing so. We found Murcla Furniture/Home Planners to be very good but in the end we went with Calidona because we just preferred their Wenga range.
For convenience, we also took their air-conditioning system. I gather from threads on the RODA forum that another company Polarair are very good and very competitive - can't vouch for either yet!
