Hi amazon, I e-mailed Calidonia yesteday about air-con - asking for specs and prices. Either huge co-incidence or in response to my query. Anyway, I can't open the attachment. Did you have a problem? I have had an estimate from PolarAir for 3500 euros. We are purchasing a Duplex Penthouse and, therefore, need two systems. As I cannot open my e-mail I don't know how this compares.
Anita.

Hi
received the same offer, i dont really know if the offer is a good one or not, need to research or speak to someone who knows a bit about the different types and output facilities etc.
from what i have gleamed from this forum there are lots of good and not so good models on the market, need to make sure we get it right, the information dosent even tell you if the models are dual hot and cold.
hopefully someone who knows about these things may be able to give us some advice, perhaps inspector homes may be able to help.
regards dave

Hi
If you check out the Roda forum, there are a number of threads that refer to Air con that you might find useful.
Just out of interest, I looked at the cost of buying one of the equivalent LG units in the UK, which amounted to roughly 2250 euro without fitting. Corvera are offering the same unit but including fitting for 2638 euro.
Hope that helps.

Hi Anita
may seem a silly question, but why do you need two seperate units, i was led to believe from the litrature given that all rooms were ducted from one unit, or am i getteing my wires crossed,
i know in lots of apartments i have stayed in they seem to have units fitted in each room as you suggested.

Hi Dave, as far as I understand it is because our apartment is on two levels therefore requiring two units. If you just have the one level it must just require one unit thereby reducing the cost.

Hi Anita
I have two duplex apartments, a Tilo and a Laurel. With the Laurel nearly all the build area is on one floor, so as far as air conditioning is concerned I am assuming its similar to any other two bed laurels. The Tilo is more evenly split, the air conditioning offer recommends (for a duplex Tilo) a Carrie PX Power 130B carrier inverter, normal price 4585 Euros, offer price 3648 Euros (its a similar price to the other units, also it does not say if it includes installation, so I'm assuming it doesn't).
It does not indicate or state that you require two units. Although I'm certainly no expert I think they go on the volume or area of the apartment rather than how many levels(as long as the apartment is designed for the ducting to go from one level to another), as I'm not sure I've sent a letter to Esther asking her to confirm this, I'll let you know what the reply is. Hope this helps.

Hi Kev
I think if you check the price for the tilo 2 bed duplex the costs are as follows
2 bed tilo duplex = x power 25B carrier inverter = 1,041euros for bottom floor plus LG SO9AN SQ1 LG inverter for top floor lounge at 852 euros
2 bed tilo = X power 80b carrier inverter = 2714 euros + LG UB 24 NHC LG inverter 2,638 euros
3 bed tilo = X POWER 110B-S carrier inverter = 3,318 euros + LG UB36 NGC LG inverter = 3,524 euros.
i dont think the price's include fitting, will try to get some comparision costings.
regards dave

Hi all
I contacted Celia Garci about this as she appears to organising it and got this reply to my enquiry as to what I would need for my two bed Tilo duplex.
The tipe of your property is Tilo apartment duplex.
For the ground foor you have this models.
Xpower 80B Carrier invertir
LG UB24nhc LG invertir
And for the first floor you have this models (split)
Carrier xpower 25B carrier invertir
LG SO9AN SQ1 LG inverter
Celia Garcia
Gestor Personal de Cliente / Personal Client Agent
I'm more confused than ever, does this mean I need 4 units, if so it amounts to over 7000 Euros? If so I had a quick look at an air conditioning website (Polar air) which appears to be much more reasonably priced and have been recommended by some of the Roda owners, I have requested a quote from them.

Hi Kev, thanks for your help and also everyone else who has posted. As I said previously I have been in contact with Gary at PolarAir and his recommendation for our 2 bed duplex is as follows:
We would propose to fit the Fujitsu General 18000 btu inverter system to each floor as we have done in some properties in Roda at a total cost of 3500.00 euros,it may seem a lot more than you expected but you will see , by getting other quotes that its a good price.
Good price by comparison it seems.
As he said 'total cost' I have presumed that this includes fitting, but I will e-mail Gary to confirm.
Anita.

Hi All
i think that most of us have been in contact with gary from polar air, he is also going to give me a quote, i am going to send him a copy of the floor plans to enable him to calculate the apropriate models and btu output that will be required
If many of us on phase i and 2 contract the work out to him we may be able to negotiate a better deal, he has fitted lots of units at roda and has had some good feedback on the roda forum.

Thank you everybody - your research is making my life easier. One question. For those that are taking the offer of Euro 3000 - can this be used as part payment for the costs of the air conditioning system if bought through Corvera?

Hi Ash & all
A good question Ash, I've emailed Esther Van de Velde asking that very question, I'll post the reply when I get it. By the way I have found Esther excellent, at last someone who replies quickly to emails and has clear and precise answers and I feel is trustworthy.
Here is an earlier reply to the cost of the air conditioning installation of the duplex apartments I sent her :
Dear Kevin
Thank you for contacting me.
For your penthouse LAUREL : which is on one floor with a roof solarium you can choose between the following machines:
CARRIER XPOWER 80B CARRIER INVERTER 2.714,00 €
LG UB24NHC LG INVERTER 2.638,00 €
For your DUPLEX Penthouse TILO: you can choose as well between the following units for the ground floor:
CARRIER XPOWER 80B CARRIER INVERTER 2.714,00 €
LG UB24NHC LG INVERTER 2.638,00 €
And if you would like to have air conditioning as well on your room on the second floor you can choose additionally for the following units:
CARRIER XPOWER 25B CARRIER INVERTER 1.041,00 €
LG S09AN SQ1 LG INVERTER 852,00 €
These prices include VAT and are only valid for this promotion as the normal price is 5% more expansive. Remember that we won’t charge you with this offer the installation costs.
I hope I have answered all of your questions, but if you need more information, please let me know.
Kind regards,
Esther Van De Velde
A nice clear answer that I can actually understand, so for the duplex Tilo a total cost of between around 3500 E and 3750 E.
I also just spoke with Gary from Polar air, and he said there is no real rush with the air conditioning as it can be fitted within a day and you would be unlikely to wait for more than a week to have it fitted. He would need for us to have the keys before he could install it. I think it would be less expensive through Gary from Polar air ( although I'm waiting for the quotes), I've seen him recommended several times on the message boards, so he certainly appears to be competent and reliable. There does appear to be one advantage with going through Corvera and that is you can add the cost onto the mortgage, if you want to take that route.

Hi all, Esther from Calidona got back to me promptly (as usual) on the question whether or not we can use the 3000 Euro promotional card for air conditioning, here it is:
You can use the 3.000€ of the loyalty promotion for the air -conditioning, but in that case you will have to buy it once you have completed on your property. As you will obtain the 3.000€ when you have signed your title deed and all the conditions for the promotion have been completed (as mentioned under point “h” of the conditions of the promotion on Annex III). In other words, for this specific promotion you won’t be able to use the 3.000€.
So it would appear that we can not use it for this promotion as we will only get the card after completion (assuming that we meet the conditions), and we need to sign up for this particular promotion by the 30th September 08, but once we have the card, (after completion) we can then use the card to purchase air conditioning through Calidona.
She went on to say the following:
If you buy an air conditioning unit now, you will safe 9% of VAT. If you buy an air-conditioning unit once your property has been handed over to you, you will have to pay a 16% of VAT. If you buy the unit before completion, you only have to pay a 7% of VAT. The only way of obtaining this advantage is buying through us, taking advantage of this promotion as we are the only one who can fit the machine before completion.
Another important advantage of buying a unit now is that you will be able to incorporate the relevant payment into your mortgage. That means that you can spread it over a long period, so you won’t even notice you are paying it!
With this special offer we won’t charge you the installation costs, which normally are 300€.
Be aware, that we are able to install the machines during the construction before the ceilings are fitted. (the machines normally are installed above a false ceiling). Once the property is finished and if you install a unit, you will have to take into account that some damages might be caused.
Don’t forget the 5% discount with this promotion.
This all means that if you take advantage of this promotion you will have 3.000€ in order to spend them on other products/ services offered by us in a much more efficient way.
