Hello everyone,
Many thanks to you all for carrying out all the research into such matters as aircon etc.
I made my first posting a while back and explained at the time, that I am ignorant in matters of navigating myself around or using this type of forum, so please bear with me.
I joined this thread by reading Steve and Jane's input today but I can't even find my own earlier postings! These were not involved with aircon but more to do with the various stories and rumours which abound.... and which I am sure, are untrue, apart from the good ones!!
May I ask if there is a general forum where one can throw anything in or has this thread developed from that please and become a specialised aircon site until someone changes the topic?
Because of financial matters beyond our control which are causing us extreme problems at the moment, I had written to see if we could be released (not out of choice but out of necessity) but I am advised by the developer that this, no matter what, is not an option.
So we have to bite the bullet and find our way forward and I must admit that I had swept the aircon matter under the carpet for now but having briefly skimmed through all the inputs, I am slightly confused as Esther did contact us some time ago with an aircon offer but I see that there are various opinions on the options available.
For me, the cost of this is yet another burden but we have lived and worked all over the world and can confirm that you decide against aircon at your peril!
Also, a reverse cycle (cooling/heating) centralised unit is best by far. We live in Queensland, Australia and life would be unbearable without it and the heating DOES come in very handy for the one or two colder months of the year.
So, which option do we go for, please? Has there been a consensus arrived at as I see that there were varying opinions as to whether or not the central units had to be installed above the ceiling before the ceiling is installed, whereas other folks seem to think that the system can be fitted after we have taken over the properties?
Others seem to be of the opinion that the developer would not permit us to fit a "non-Calidona offer" system until after Completion?
We have central aircon here and it's lovely but we have also lived in places where we have only had one or two separate units fitted high up on the wall in say, a Master Bedroom and the main living area. You have to be very lucky to get the latter option to provide adequate aircon coverage, particularly when it IS hot and you have a mix of guests to contend with...... an enforced lack of privacy is one such consideration!
Financially, I'd rather wait as long as possible but if it means having the ceiling torn down to fit a central unit, it would be a very false economy.
We have two Laurel apartments: A two bed penthouse and a three bed apartment.
Also, I read somewhere of a 3,000 Euro "gift voucher" from Calidona/Corvera but I do not seem to have been offered this. Can anyone please clarify for us?
As I say, I apologise for my late joining but I've been bogged down by other considerations and if anyone can offer me a note of how to navigate around the forum please, I'd really appreciate it, along with your inputs and feedback please, on the aircon issue.
Has a preferred option and which is maybe linked to a joint/bulk purchase been arrived at?
With our grateful thanks and kind regards,
John and Anne.
