Does anyone know of a taxi service for Condado?

My parents are visiting their apartment in Jardine 12 on the 8 September and would like to book a taxi from Los Alacazeres to Condado.  Then return to San Javier airport on the 12th.

We haven't been able to get firm confirmation through Polaris World Travel Service and would be interested to know if anyone can help them.

Look forward to hearing from you all.  This is a great forum.

Hi Linda

We we were at the Notary for completion we met a couple who were having to travel about by taxi.  They said the taxi from the airport to Condado was in the region of £80 - bit hefty!  What they did was take a taxi to mar menor and then used the free inter-polaris resort bus to take them nearer condado (can't remember which resort that is) and then a taxi from there to Condado.  Probably a bit of a slow process but cost a fraction of a taxi fare.

Hi Linda and Linda (fellow Jardin 10ers),

take a look at the website  below - don't know how up to date the costs of the airport transfers are but San Javier to Camposol which is only 5 minutes along the road from Condado for €40!!

Hi Jackie & Robbie

I see what you mean.  If that is the current price then it is excellent.

We tend to hire a car but for anybody not keen on driving I doubt if you would find cheaper.

I am going back out to Condado on 21st September - anyone in Jardin 10 around then?

Linda

I'm afraid it is too good to be true.  Taxis were provided by local companies, I have recently aquired new prices and the website has now been updated.  San Javier to Camposol is €65 and from Alicante €75 this is I believe upto 4 people.   Please PM me for local taxi numbers.

Regards,

Steve.

Thank you all for this info.  You can never have too much information at this stage and the web link is great.  I'll pass this on to my parents.

Linda, I also like your idea of going to Mar Menor and then getting the Polaris shuttle bus, which hopefully may be a possibility some time next year to Condado.

Cheers for now and I hope we do meet up at some point.

Linda

The option of going to Mar Menor and getting a shuttle bus could be a good idea in the long term but can´t believe anyone would do this at the moment.

Unless I´m out of date this would mean taxi from airport to Mar Menor, waiting for next shuttle to La Torre and then taxi to Condado. Firstly, the shuttles are not that frequent and secondly still about 1/2 hour from La Torre so taxi would still not be cheap.

If and when the shuttle service connects all PW resorts then this could be a workable alternative bas a direct link from Mar Menor to Condado but would still depend on frequency.....unless I am missing something.

It would'nt be my choice for getting around but if you are not too keen on driving and have plenty of time to spare then it probably is quite a cost effecftive way.

I think the main problem is the frequency of the shuttles. I haven't seen a recent timetable but I seem to recall only one during the day and one in the evening. It could work though if the timing of the shuttle coincided with the flights. It would be interesting to hear if anyone has done though as it might be easier than I'm thinking.

Hi guys,

me and Mrs WW have just returned from CdA and although we had a hire car during our stay we did talk about how far away the complex was from all the main airports and towns and the lack of taxis. I understand that when the developement is up and running, the whole idea is that the people staying there won't need to go anywhere during their stay but while the place is being built, people do need transport to get around.

Although having said that, from what I have seen of the whole developement, once completed, it will be so big I guess people will still taxis to get around.

Could be an ideal opportunity for someone in the UK that is thinking about relocating to start up a business..................airport runs, seaside runs, shopping trips to towns, etc.

WW

Hi LindaS,

We are also in Jardin 12 - what number are your parents in?

It would certainly be quite costly for them to get a taxi from San Javier to Condado - we stayed at the Mar Menor Golf Resort last Summer and it cost 25 euros for a taxi from the airport to Man Menor which is only about a ten to fifteen minute journey.

I know that Carol (angelbabe) is considering offering an airport collection/drop-off service as well as her other key holding, cleaning services.  It might be worth contacting her to see if she would be able to do this and how much she would charge.  If your parents are interested, let me know and I can provide you with Carol's new Spanish mobile number.

Debbie

Just a though  but an  alternative might be to use the airport bus to Murica then get the train to the station at Alhama de Murcia or Lorrca ( not sure which is actually closer) and taxi it from there.  The train takes about half an hour and runs hourly - the timetable is on the RENFE
Ther is a train from somewhere near Balsicas and Torre Pacheco about 10km from the airport. but my spanish wasn't up to finding out where it went I'm afraid!

links to info are ( can't do proper links as not posted enough yet )

Carol's idea of a aiport pick up service would be fab. It would tie in nicely with the key holding service for friends and family who don't want to drive (or can't!).  Carol if you're reading this get in touch.
