I have just got back from C de A. Had a great adventure sleeping rough in our apartment.

Have ordered furniture from DFS in San Javier. Keep pushing them! I got money off and then pushed for pictures at 150 euros a throw

Frequented the Cafe every night. Was a bit shocked at the price  for a pint of lager being 2.5 euros for a half and 4 for a pint. Obviously I didn't had the half but had too many of the pints. 3 at teh most because I was tired!! The bar manager/bar man on the night shift is a miserable s.d and at 11.00 PM gives you the dead eye and tries all the tricks in the trade to get rid of you. I'm in Garden 4 and to be honest  at night its a bit scarey as there are only the walkway lights that work. The street lights arent working in garden 4 and area. At night its like a ghost town to be honest.

I used the aircon that Polar Air Costa Blanca fitted.  I do recommend it.

Met some nice people on site. Kev and Cath in particular from Garden 12.

Its looking really good to be honest. I drove around the site and stopped to have a look at the new Foro.  I was a bit disappointed at the distance from Garden 4 to the new location to be honest but this may have its advantages. One thing I noticed was that there are no markings in or around the pool identifying the depth. I will report this to Polaris when I get the chance as I am sure there must be legal implications with this. Even Spain must have some form of Health and  Safety. Maybe not! 

I have some snags that need doing. These are basically things that I missed on the snagging visit. 

I ahve taken some photoes including a view of the new Foro ( Not much there yet) that I will post when I get chance

We to are just back. We were on CdA  Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, but only for a few hours each day. We too sorted most of our furniture, lighting and air con. Most sourced from this forum. Newbys take note. We were all newbies once and the advice and recommendations have been invaluable.

I agree this forum has been a very valuable source of info. I received some written directions to C de A from San Javier Airport which were brilliant and easy to follow. I am trying to remember who sent me them so I can thank them personally. I'll traunch through my emails when I get chance. Can anyone tell me why the chicken factory is that high? If you've seen it you'll know what I mean!

The directions you are trying to remember who gave them to you, if one of the reassuring directions is:  (the sign at the turn-off just says El Jimenado – don’t panic, this is the right road!) then it was Debbie (payton) who provided them. As directions go they are as good as it gets,and no tolls.

Debbies directions are spot on.  I had no problem getting to Condado from San Javier even although I had to drive in the dark, rain and during a thunder storm!

I do however have a problem getting back to the airport - I get there but just not the right way!.  Will have to review Debbies directions back again.

DIRECTIONS TO SAN JAVIER AIRPORT FROM CONDADO

 

 

·       Leave Condado and take right turn on to RM23, signposted for Alhama de Murcia, Murcia and Fuente Alamo.

 

·       At roundabout (at end of RM23 motorway), take the first right turn on to the RM2 signposted for Cartagena and Fuente Alamo.

 

·       Continue on the RM2 for approximately 30 km, until you reach the end of the RM2 and come to a large roundabout with speed bumps and flashing speed warning signs on approach to the roundabout.

 

·       Keep in right hand lane – take 2^nd exit – signposted F14 El Jimenado, Torre Pacheco and Los Alcazares (chicken factory will be on  your left as you come on to the F14).

 

·       Continue on the F14 until you reach the next roundabout.

 

·       Take the 3^rd exit signposted for Los Alcazares (F30).

 

·       At the next roundabout, take the 2^nd exit signposted for Los Alcazares.  You will see the Barcelo Torre Pacheco Hotel on your right and the Mar Menor building work on your left.

 

·       At next roundabout go straight on (second exit) signposted for Los Alcazares (F30) – you will pass the Polaris World Garden Centre on your right.

 

·       At the next roundabout go straight on (second exit) signposted AP7 Cartagena, Alicante Los Alcazares).

 

·       At next roundabout take the second exit (straight on) signposted for AP7 Alicante, San Javier Airport.

 

·       At the next roundabout turn left – signposted AP7 San Javier Airport.

 

·       Merge onto AP7 – stay on AP7 for a short distance  to exit number 784, signposted San Javier Airport.

 

·       Leave AP7 at exit 784 and take second exit signposted for airport.

 

·       At next roundabout go straight on – follow road into airport car park.

The prices for drinks at the bar seem to be excessive, I have read another thread where someone was charged about 8 Euros for a glass of wine and 3 bags of crisps, I have bought a bottle of wine with dinner for around the same price on visits to spain.   Perhaps we should all get together and complain.  They have a captive audience so they probably think they can charge us what they like.  Does anybody know what the prices are like on the other PW resorts?  Anyway it better be good stuff if they are charging these prices.
