Hi
We are arriving on 30th October just noticed that 1st November is All Saints Day does anyone know if this a bank holiday and will the shops be open?
We are only there for a week to furnish our apartment on Jardin5 and if he shops are closed we may be in a bit of trouble with deliveries etc.
Thanks

Thanks for the info I have checked on that link and it does look like a bank holiday. Just when you have thought of everything something else comes up!
Never mind will just have to shop quicker on the Friday
Thanks

Rule of thumb with Spain is assume every Monday is a bank holiday, then if it isn't it's a bonus.
They also have a little habit of taking Monday & Tuesday off as they can make an excuse for Monday being separate bank holidays e.g - where i live and where i work, or where i work and where the company i work for is based

Hi Sue,
I can recommend Repsol for a sandwich/drink/crisps as this will be the only place open for lunch, it's the local petrol station. If the BH is anything like the one we experienced on the 13th October you will think the world has ended. Nothing and I mean nothing was open, there was noone walking about and then at about 8pm people started to emerge from there houses, it was like some sifi B movie ( Return of the Zombie) or something like that. Good luck anyway.

Consum on Camposol B is open on Saturday morning, the 1st November. Also the 17th November (a Monday) is a local Mazarron Bank Holiday so a lot of the shops will be closed again.
Funny how it´s always the retired who complain about "too many bank holiday" - as a "worker" I quite like them !!!
Enjoy a shop free day !

Looks like we may be using your food guide when we go out on the 17th then Ali. lol
Kathy is this just the Mazarron area? Will Murcia, San Javier and Los Alcazeres still be open? Thanks for the warning by the way, I suppose we really should do what Shampers suggested and treat all Mondays as bank holidays.

The 17th Nov is a very local bank holiday just celebrated in the Mazarron area, so you will be fine in San Javier, Murcia etc. The local holidays are the dangeroous ones, as they vary from area to area. Only last month I had planned a day trip to the Shopping Centres in Murcia, when our coach driver told us that all the shops would all be closed - fortunatley we were able to rearrange for the next day, so everyone was happy - thankfully !

Thanks for that Kathy. Where do you live? I can't remember if I saw that you lived at either Alhama de Murcia or Camposol. Whichever it is, what do you think is the most must do or must see in the area? Have you visited Condado and what do you think? as a local, so to speak.

Having spent many a week's holiday in Wales in my yoof, i learned to always prepare for weekend on the Friday due to the bizzarre practices that the Welsh undertook (anyone thinking i was going to mention sheep is baaadly mistaken) of having Saturday and Sunday off, with pubs/off licences not even opening on a Sunday. I shall be adopting the same tactics on a Friday in Murcia due to Saturday being ''Spanish Shopping Day'', Sunday being Sunday and Monday being Bank Holiday Day.

To answer Cuz´s question, I live & work on Camposol - I work in the Travel Agency on Camposol (am I allowed to say that????). As we´ve been here for over 3 years & know our way around, I like to promote the area to new people, as I think we are very lucky to live in such a wonderful place.
Must do´s ...... crikey, there are so many.....
Walking in the Sierra Espuña
Bar hopping in Totana, Mazarron, Pto de Mazarron
Enjoying the many fiestas that occur locally - my favorite is Los Caballos del Vino, in Caravaca on the 2nd May yearly
Walking from Bolnuevo to Percheles beach. If you´re lucky you´ll see the goats eating the tomatoes on route
Taking the train from Totana to Murcia (37minutes) departs 1 minute past the hour every hour (Mon - Fri)
Visiting Cartagena
Getting muddy in Lo Pagan !
Swimming in the sea on Christmas Day .... and yes we did it last year
Visiting the "guns" just past Isla Plana
Having Pan con Tomato at the Saturday Market in Mazarron & watching the hussle & bussle
Menu Del Dia at the Monastry in Aledo
Enjoying a wine tour of Jumilla
Cycling around "the huertos" in Totana
Making friends with the locals, who really do appreciate a few words of Spanish - it makes all the difference !
Enjoying a relaxing day at the Balneario resorts of Archena & Fortuna
Well that´s for starters !!! Enjoy

Hi Kathy
We were going to pay a visit to the travel agency in Camposol when we are over in a few weeks.
We wondered what sort of day trips you had available

Thank you for the list Kathy, can't wait to try some of them out. Have visited quite a few of the places on the list, but it's amazing how much you miss. Have done the Lo Pagan, mud bath, OK, only our feet, but it's amazing. I love it there.
What sort of times does the mosastry at Aledo, serve menu del dia?
Looking forward to proper holidays at Condado, and trying some of these out.

We're hoping to be over between Boxing Day ( a Friday) and New Years Eve(a Wednesday). Will we find any supermarkets open on Boxing Day (doubting it but thought we'd ask) if not will things be open on the Saturday?

Boxing day (26th Dec) is not a holiday here, so Consum etc (and me) will be open, so why not pop by the office & keep me company !!
The 6th Jan is a big fietsa in Spain - Tres Reyes or 3 Kings - shops will be closed all day.
