Not sure if anyone else flies from EMA to Murcia/Alicante but have heard strong rumours from within the airport that Ryanair are about to pull out of East midlands airport and relocate to Bristol. Apparently they are citing lack of use on the flights (not on the ones i go on but hey ho).

Will certainly be a blow to me as I'm literally next door to the airport and Easyjet and BIM baby are very pricey.

Anyone else heard anyhting or indeed is anyone else bothered? lol

Phil

Hi Phil,

I'm bothered!!  We use East Mids and like you say Easy Jet & BMI Baby are very pricey. How did you get this info? Do you work at the airport? Hope its just rumour and nothing else.

Thanks for the heads up

We are also close to East Midlands but have found for some reason that the Ryanair Birmingham flights are usually cheaper than EMA

Having checked recently, they are still taking bookings from EMA to Murcia up to May next year

Did you know that Ryanair also fly from Doncaster/Sheffield to Alicante ?

Yeah we check every airport but when you only live 5 mins away I'm loathed to drive anywhere else as the petrol and parking usually negates the flight saving.

Thanks anyway.

Do you really find Ryanair that much cheaper?  I have always found their website incredibly painful to use and frustrating in terms of seeing the true price at the end.

We went out in Oct with Easyjet and have just booked again for next Easter (5 of us, £400).  If Ryanair are really cheaper than this, then maybe I need to give them another look, as we too are only 10mins away from EMA, and would sooner continue to use this than Birm or Manc

Well I've just booked with them go in mid Feb and for 2 of us plus one checked bag and 1 set of golf clubs it was £162. Easy jet was going to be  at least £300. MI Baby was so expensive for flights alone i didn't go any further.

There is a great website called Skyscanner that will 'sweep' virtuallevery airline's prices and return the best prices for when you want to fly. If your not fussy on dates then you can enter 'all month' and it will return the best price flights each day.

Unfortunately due to less than 10 posts ............you'll need to type address rather than it being a simple link

www(dot)skyscanner(dot)net/

We have found Ryanair generally cheaper. you'll also find that EMA is more expensive than Luton or Birmingham.

Hi,

Read the thread re closure of Ryan Air flights from east mids to murcia & was very concerened. As nothing has been mentioned on the news I discided to give them ( Ryan Air ) a call on 09055660000. It did takr a while  to connect but once it had I spoke to a  lady who says it is a rumer & that there is no plans to pull out of east Mids.

To be on the safe side I also called  the airport. The reply was the same. infact the lady says there is also a rumer going round about another airline but again there is no truth to any of them

So fingers crossed we can asume every thing is Ok

Jan

PS if  you want to confirm your own flights make sure you have your conformation number.
