Bringing out Telly from UK

Hi Folks

Know this has been on forum before but cant find it

Will a telly that we bring out from Uk work ok in Spain, have spare flat screen telly, sky box and card and hoping to use them instead of buying one.  Any info would be helpful

Hi Viv,

If it's a new'ish digital TV then yes it should work.  In the menu does it ask which counrty you are in?  The digital system in Spain is the same as the UK BUT they use an extra channel (69?) so unless your TV can receive this you will not get all the available channels.  If it's a analogue, then no as the system over there is different ( PAL I rarher than PAL B/G ).

But bring it anyway, as either way if you have problems you can get a TDT ( Spanish Freeview ) set top box to use via SCART for less than 30Euros.

As for the SKY box, I'm told by customer services that this should work once they have sorted out the connectivity, but still no idea when this will be .

My TV and SKY box have just started thier first leg of the journey out there with the in-laws, three weeks 5 days to go until my next visit

We bought a VCR specifically for Spain and that would not work

I brought a DVD player recorder with built in freeview from UK. re tuned to Spanish digital and get 2 channels in English -  Disney and Sony  wow!!

Polaris have said TV will not be long , however phone and internet a bit longer  5 months !!   got Telitec meet comidad company and not hopeful we can get an alternative supplier in.   3g modem has some  use but sugnal not strong everywhere.

Found a Spanish orange (UK orange phones will not work) sim card I can buy from Garage at Camposol  15euros  gives 450 mins  talk time internacional , going to give it a try. So bring an unlocked old mobile and try it out if you want to make calls to UK.

Will let you know when I hear about any developements

It is a newish telly, (digital), and it asks what country and what language so hopefully that means we can use it
