There are no Wi Fi Zones on Condado as yet.
Thereare two Computors in the Bar which cost 4€ for 50 mins or 12€ for 300 mins
I can use my Spanish Vodaphone pay and go modem but only in 2G mode which is quite slow.
Having carted my Laptop back to the UK over Christmas i would suggest leave yours at home and use the Bar or Camposol

Hi Pamela,
As well as the 2 computers in the bar in Condado, you can use your own computer and get WiFi in there. You have to buy a Polaris card (I paid 12Euros for 300 minutes - there are other options too). I image there to be a range where you can receive this WiFi signal... I guess a few of the houses in Jardines 5 and 7 may even be able to pick it up.
Good Luck...

Camposol Business centre offer free wifi and he has an internet telephone system linked to ASTRA on display, while it gets TV and you could use you sky box it is not sold for that purpose. Having sky in Spain is not allowed!! although yu can get it etc etc ok for those upstairs who can hide the dish, it is not a fairly small dish

Hi dringman,
Without getting into the debate on the legality of SKY ( cus we all know that the majority of expats in Spain have it ).
As we know there are already people at CdA that have put up there own dishes, and nothing wrong with that I say as PW seem to be very slow in providing the satellite feed, probably down to not wanting to spend money. There is nothing in the community rules to exclude you using you own dish, it only states that we cannot change the front facard of the property. So, ( big ifs coming ) IF you know your neighbours and IF they all want satellite TV ( not just SKY ) you COULD put up a communal dish at the back of the property ( IF it points the right way ) and share it.
Personnaly I rather we all bash PW and nag them into getting the feed sorted.
Anyhow back on thread.
Like you all I'd like internet connection whilst in Spain, so I can either use an internet cafe, get a spainish dongle or SIM and use either HSDPA/WAP or Dial up via bluetooth. For me, I'd rather use the internet from the comfort of my own apartment rather than have to go to the bar to use Areanet, but then again there is a bar there so it's not all bad. so to get a dongle or not?
There are a number of free dial-up ISPs in Spain ( www.gonuts4free.com ) that will give you a ( slowish ) internet connection for the cost of a local call. Anyone any experience of these? Which Moble provider to get a sim from? Looking at the HITS web site call to the UK are cheaper than local calls? So I could just dial my UK ISP for 5c/Min - don't get that?
Any other recommenations on Mobile companies and thier tariffs for data / local calls?
Phil.

Hi phil,
RE internet,
i have the orange dongle, i got it from the phone house in carta, orange were doing a deal
first 3 months 7euros
next 3 months 14 euros
then 22 euros for rest of contract,
this is for 18 months, i get 75% good signal on garden 8 and would recomend it, they are also giving free laptops away if you get 10meg or over package (they were 3 months ago)
I have also had a sat dish fitted and sky, i have no neighbours but would consider a feed if they paid the extra cost, but you do lose abit of space upstairs and is not the greatest thing to look at!
PW are going to be months with there sat, and there is nothing worse than sitting infront of a tv and you dont have a clue what they are saying!

Hi Craig,
Thanks for that.
Re the dish, my thoughts were sticking it on the back wall - assuming you point the right way - keeps it off the roof and would make it easier to feed all 4 apartments in the block.
I think PW need geeing up, first is was Nov, then Dec, Then Feb now March.......Perhaps everyone should send them a snotagram.
Phil

Hi phil,
the smallist dish you can have to get good signal is a 1.35 that is quite big, i hvea 1.45 and it is bigger than me 5'11" including barckets etc,
it sticks out about 13" and to have it on the back wall you need to get the right angle to the sky so putting one near your bedroom window would not work as it is to low down
they are not the best looking things either, and i think PW will kick up stink if you do put on outside, it need to face so many degres east as far as i know, i thought about the chimmy stack... out of reach and high up.
it depends on your block angle really.

Hi Phil,
agreed we are not getting very far with PW ( as always!) re Tv etc and may be worth everybody sending email and even possibly sugesting that we will put up our own dishes if they do not get it sorted. However I think it would be best to all send to one person ( possibly senior staff member) . Do you have any such details - if so it may be worth posting them on this thread.

Craig,
Perhaps we should all get dummy ones ( in pink if possible ) and say we will take them down when they provide the feed.
( only joking folks, before the anti-pink-dish brigade frame me )
Phil
