Well here we are a year further down the line, and on Saturday you will be voting in the new team,I think this year we will get a few volunteers, the main things are now established and it is time to move forward with the community stuff, i.e. getting the grass in the pool replaced is the most talked about, we have money now so a bit of the pressure is off that issue, we need people who would like to stand for a position to put the word on the streets (not in the pub) maybe in the shape of a short handout, and give us all a chance to think about our vote, remember some people will have a few proxy votes and this would give them time to ask what way their people want to go, there has also been a fair bit of learning in the last year so I will give a summary of some of the subjects This year a President must be elected(by law) but the position must have support in the shape of a committee, to share the decision making, this takes away him/her being the only one in the firing line and hopefully stops people making it a personal thing if their item is rejected ------ My vote for a new President would be for ROBIN BAYLISS
Swimming Pool
I think our pool man deserves our support and loyalty for what has been and still is - a terrific community relationship
Question
Community Payments
There is still money in the communial account that does not have a name to sign it off against, check your statements that you made it clear from whom it came from
If you have changed address or e-mail address make sure Adfinsur (Laura) is updated to allow contact
Adfinsur
I have heard rumours about doing away with this service, well I advise you all to think about this, do you know it only cost about 5 Euro a month each household to have advice for Spanish law, full administration support, interpreters for making important contacts,i.e. Police,Council bussiness, repair people etc.Recognised representation when approaching many subjects, without them doors might not open,Example, they set up my meeting with councillors and I am now sure that would not have happened without them,so have a good think before voting
Insurance
Projects ongoing
I have had a meeting with councillors and discussed the following
Projects for thought
A Torre/Al. web site to aid communication (I use Eye on Spain, e-mail & hand out)
Grass removal from the pool area, and replace with a suitable surface
Heating aids for the pool to allow longer use through out the year i.e. Solar, or electric powered
Proper laid out areas for sun bathers, to get maximum use of available space
Well over to the new committee, and I wish them all the best, as some things are slowing down their efforts can go to other items for the community, they can be as busy as they want--or dont want, thanks to all the people who gave me encouragement, people who physically helped me, and people who called at the house when they were over on a break (dont stop because I am redundant) and YES believe it or not I DID ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE ,
Thanks to all, Colin
Height extension to the front section of the games area fence at community centre
More landscaping for cosmetic and sound dampening reasons
Clearing of building area at the bottom of Pedro Cano
Street cleaning --They say this is Taray as they have not accepted the handover yet, a letter from the council was to be sent to Taray
Establish a date for the centre to open and a caretaker to be in place
I am awaiting another meeeting or at least an update from the councillors I had the discussions with
In progress is the repair of broken post boxes
A subject always good for a committee to look at, if you remember our insurance to start with was 3000 Euro, but was reduced to 919 Euro this is for basic cover which is required by law, and includes Civil Liability in the communal area of the pool, the company is Vitalicio
THEE SUBJECT(info@adfinsur.com) or (administracion@adfinsur.com) , well from the first six months when I was doing everything to get money, to pay for Pool men,Safety equipment etc. we are now in good shape, with money in the bank, and a large majority of people dealing through banks and direct debits, great stuff,we have only a handfull who owe the full amount, and you will all vote on what action you want to take, some people I am sure will pay on the day, but what would have happened if everyone did this, MMMmmm dirty swimming pool, no insurance, no safety equipment and it goes on, I think we need to vote on a quicker way to get the money in, but remember many things we invested in last year, are a one off and you may want to think about, reducing the payments or stay the same and build up a good fund for improvements, believe me when I tell you our payment is at the LOW end, for communities-----Are there some pool rules that need to be adhered to more ridgidly, do we need to add more rules or take some off the list ? -- Have a thinkAt the start of last year, I made a change to our pool management, and it has been a revelation the difference it has made, when Sunsure took over we had pump problems and water quality problems, the general pool area upkeep, left alot to be desired, you must have been pleased with the changes, and the attention the pool has been getting especially in the
very busy summer period, there was a learning period as every pool is different, but for me it has paid off,
Note - the pool maintenance has been continuing once a week even during the cold months, when the pool has not been getting used, this is when other pool companies drop back to once a fortnight at the most, I do not know if you are aware but the tax payable to the Spanish government from companies like Sunsure has increased for this year (nothing new there) but after shared discussion and a bit of Scots haggling, Sunsure have cut there profit margin, to give us
a same price deal, for the agreed service
