We completed in Block 1 in May 2006 and we were horrified in January to find a letter from Aifos saying we owed them 1495 euros. Of course we ignored it but now got a legal letter for court action. Does anyone know if they can do this. Who else has had any correspondance?

Well thats a new one AIFOS taking someone else to court !!!

Makes a change from the hundreds of people pursuing them for Money !! They owe me over 76K Euros.

Won my court case when they offered no defence, Still wating for our money. Its likely we will never get it

as they will almost certainly be in administration/bankrupt very soon.

My advice would be to throw the demand in the bin.

However its likely at some point in  the future the Administrators may try to pursue this if you are seen as a legal debtor.

Clearly you need legal advice as to whether you actually owe it them.

I also had a letter sent to my home address demanding payment for building materials relating to my apartment, the letter was in spanish and i faxed it to my solicitor to translate and get there views, they responded the next day to say ignore it and nothing to worry about as Aifos had completed all legal transfers of property. they were going to talk to Aifos direct . This was around October last year and heard nothing since.

Did get the second spreadsheet with the letter?

I translated it and it itemises what Aisos pais for lighting and water during the period when no licence had been achieved. It also highlights interest on loan if a mortgage has been agreed by the buyer on the property. This will explain why everyone has a different amount owing or been requested.

Do you use a solicitor in Spain? I have had little back from mine so considering using one used by my neighbour.
