Last August you may remember I was guinea pig for a new WiFi system which was going to be a Pay As You Go system. Well, Europa Digital at Puerto Rey who were trialling the system have now backed out of this as it is not cost effective for the bandwidth they required. They are keeping it on the back burner for the future when they hope to have a viable, reasonably priced system. I will keep you posted.

I'm thinking of getting sorted with a PAYG form of mobile broadband so that when I'm in Veranda I can access emails etc.
Any recommendations you can give would be much appreciated....
where to get?
Approx cost?
What I need to - eg photo id, NIE number?
Many thanks
Shirley

Sorry, don´t know of anyone doing it, maybe someone on Veranda may know. I think it may be best if you put this on the owners´ forum and not this general one as not many people are using it any more.

I did investigate PAYG g3 cards and mobile broadband, but the main draw back, as per using your mobile abroad is the price you havee to pay for roaming charges. Download capacity is also a problem. That is if you you UK PAYG. Best bet if you realy whant mobile broadband is to buy local. I have invested in a samsung netbook to take opportunity of free wifi. As our duplex is opposite one of the dishes i can do this from indoors. This worked ok with my small . PDA.
Best wishes

Hi,
I have a got a Spanish Vodafone Pay as u Go mobile broadband fob. I got it from the Vodafone shop in Garrucha and they do different packages depending how long you want to use the internet for. I wouldn't like to quote the prices because they have changed since I got mine (alot cheaper now) but if you look on the Vodafone Spain website it gives you the prices or pop in next time you are there. I have found it really good and the most cost effective way of doing it.

Intermarche at Vera had a booth selling Euphony dongles last month. Don't know if is a full time kiosk or if it was just a promotion. Trying to get PAYG dongles from the main operators is like trying to get rocking horse sh*t, if you can get the staff to understand what you want. I tried Vodafone, Orange and Movistar shops in Mojacar, Garrucha, Vera and the shopping centre in Aguilas to no avail. Can you see if someone on your urb has wifi that they would let you use? We recently had Iberbanda installed at our property and have told our keyholders that anyone in range can use it for €10 per week.
