Bikes

Does anyone know of any local shops we can buy bikes from within walking distance of Roda?

Hi,

There are no bike shops within walking distance but there is a good bike/sport shop in San Javier.

It's called Decathlon and sells everything at reasonable prices. There are 2 bike shops in Los Alcazares but neither cheap.

Unfortunately Way 2 Bike are no longer trading.  Looks like the supermarkets are our best bet.

Depending on how far you like to walk there is a very good Spanish cycle shop in the town of los Alcazares

Walk down the main high street past where the market sets up till you see the right hand turn at the lights for Torre Pacheo and the cycle shop is on the left

Thanks for the advice.  We've just come back from a weekend at Roda.  We walked to San Javier which took about 50 mins.  There's a new bike shop just behind Yorkshire Linen.  The owner was extremely helpful especialy as we can speak no spanish & he couldn't speak any english.  We had a great couple of days on our new bikes - & we're just managing to sit down again!!

Appreciate your reply and good to see another new business has opened.

It does get easier on the cheeks the more you do it!

We are very interested in getting some bikes.  Did you buy or rent the bikes?  Could you let us know what sort of prices they were asking?

Dennis from Roda FM was good enough to take us to the shop on the way from the airport on Friday.  We chose 2 and said we would return the following day.  When we got there on Saturday morning the owner had got the bikes ready for us.  The prices ranged from about 150€ upwards but he immediately offered a discount of about 25%.  Helmets were from 20€ upwards.  He was extremely helpul but if you don't speak spanish sign language comes in very handy!

I think I recall seeing a bike shop on Balneario Plaza that hires???  Can anyone confirm and if so can you please give me details - name and contact number if possible!

....or of course any other nearby place which hires bikes would be appreciated.

We bought 2 bikes at decathlon they were around 99euros and 2 eroski in dos mares, they were around 80 euros.  Helmets 10 euros in decathlon.  We actually bought baskets for the bike in the hire shop in the plaza 15euros, they were the cheapest around!

Hope this may be of help.  Take a taxi to decathlon and cycle back!!
