Hi Ace
I'd go through your local Yellow Pages or Google for Trucking companies and Airfreight companies but I'd get at least half a dozen quotes as many will sub-contract to wholesale operators. Just call a few up and if they don't offer the service then they will no doubt be able to give you the name and numbers of those who do. The majority of companies will be based around airports at DUB, SNN & ORK .
One thing I would say is that you should be prepared to maybe break your goods down into manageable cartons rather than one pallet as (a) many operators will not have a fork truck or pallet truck and tail lift available to either collect from you or deliver in CDA and (b) you can often get better rates from loose loading rather than taking up a pallet space on a truck, especially if the pallet can't be stacked.
The other thing to remember is that you should keep the size of your freight to a minimum by packing everything tightly and cut down cartons where possible as you will not necessarily pay by the actual weight you ship but the volumetric weight, i.e. the space you take up. Most trucking companies charge at a rate of 5000 ccms = 1.0 kilo. To calculate the volume, multiply LxHxW and divide the result by 5000, this will give you the chargeable volumetric weight. Some may even work on 4000:1 or even 3000:1 so make sure you check that.
Cheers.. Julian.
