Hi
Has anyone hired a van to get stuff from IKEA to Duquesa. If so any advice on where to go. I don't really want to hire a car and a van but I don't think you can collect a hired van at the airport in Malaga. Are there any van hire places near the airport that are easy to get to?
Grateful for any advice
Rod

Rod,
Type in www.albacars.com
When it comes up scroll down the page and click on Van Hire on the left of the page, they provide vans at Malaga Airport as well as cars. I have not used them, so can't comment on the quality of the vans.
Regards
Steve

Many thanks everyone - that has been very helpful.
Albacars vans look like a good option, and some of the car hire places do seem to offer a roof rack. If you hear about broken furniture on the motorway from Malaga in a few weeks you'll know which option I took!! Certainly for the bigger items delivery might be the way to go.
Incidentally Will, I have tried to get in touch with Brian at freewifispain for internet access - I assume there is no broadband in the area yet but did he mention if that's likely to come in the future?
Thanks again to all
Rod

i have spoken to brian on the telephone whilst out here. we arranged for him to come out last friday but he never showed and hasn´t answered my calls or email since.
I am now on my way to the mobile phone shop to get a vodaphone package. Apparently its 39 euros a month for the dongle package that you just plug into your laptop and away you go.
Will let you know how i get on.
Very hot here btw!! x

Hi Suzanne
I have that device for my laptop at home with vodafone and have found it to be very good. It's a lot quicker to load up pages than I thought, as long as your not downloading photos. I'll keep trying to get brian though as I'll probably not be in Spain enough to justify another mobile contract!

They have it on pre-paid, or pay as you go too rod . With vodafone.
The mobile shop at the bottom of the road next to sol bank, its 59 euro for the wireless adaptor/dongle. You get 250mb free on it of credit, then after that you can pay various ways. its 19euros for a week of unlimited access, or 29euro for 2 weeks, or for a month its 39euro,
For me, that is very good value, we have a month now which will take me until i go home september then i can just put a week on when i next come out. Or more when i am here for long stays. I justI walked in to go on a contract which is 39 euro a month (43/44 with taxes) Over the year its much better value to just pay the 59euro purchase price and top up when you need to.
Very cheap i thought. And i have to say its made things even easier whilst out here too. I can do all my business as well as keep in touch right from home. Anyway, thats what i've done for now, until the community has its own wifi maybe.

That sounds great actually Suzanne. I misunderstood your last post and thought the contract tied you in for 39 euros every month. A week at a time is ideal and 19 Euros is not much when most hotels charge £6-10 for 24 hours. Did you need your passport to buy this?

She asked for some id yes. I did have my passport so used that but she said anything would do. Bank document or any proof of id, drivers licence etc. It was just so vodafone would activate it when she rang them.
So far i have had no problems with it whatsoever.

Well, I would say just pack your bags, get your dog, dress up, and just chill on a long ride to Las Vegas. Don't worry too much about the rental some provide fixed rate too.
