Hi everyone
I've been looking in from the outside for sometime now and thought it was about time I shared my experiences, in the hope that somebody might benefit from it.We bought through Parador in Aug 05 paid our deposit and our 2 other installments as standard practice as many of you are aware, then by sheer horror heard the news from someone who we know who also purchsed through Parador that building had stopped. We then received a letter in April 06 from our solicitors aldea advisors informing us of just that. By which time I had already discovered this forum and found out more information than was being told.
Since then the Parador reps telephone number no longer exists and has not returned our calls via the head office, aldea advisors contact was always busy although they have responded to e-mails.
we picked up on some information that aldeas was withholding our second payment (in the best interest of our clients) of course ? the first payment had been sent and after requesting it we then received our bank gaurantee.
The upshot of this was that they had been holding onto our money for the last 8 months without telling us,we then asked for our money back including interest that we would have accrued.
Aldeas then told us we could have the money back but without interest as they have it in an account that didn't earn any.
We calculated that we lost £542.30 in interest and another £248.31 in exchange rates, all through, aldeas advisors not informing us that they were holding on to our money.
We haven't ruled out using another solicitor but this is just to let some of you know that this could be happening to you.
The current status for us is that we are waiting for a reply from aldeas about commencement of building work as we all are,and just sitting and hoping that everything turns out ok.
