Just to let you know - the long dreaded receipts for payment of IBI ( normal rates) & Basura ( rubbish collection) are now ready at the town hall in las Lagunas.
I have collected the ones relevant to the properties I look after.
If you purchased in 2007 - you will be charged both of these taxes - for the years 2007, 2008 & 2009.
In the case of a 2 bed apartment the IBI for 2009 is in the region of € 250 Euros to € 270 Euros.
In the case of a 3 bed apartment - the 2009 fee is in the region of € 305 Euros to € 370 Euros.
Basura charge for the current year is € 66.66
It all depends ultimately on the square meterage of your apartment.
Normal procedure would be to pay this each year by direct debit from your Spanish bank account - but payment for the amount currently owing - which is for several years ( not only current year) - has to be made directly to them - by transfer or in cash.
You will need for someone to collect these receipts on your behalf from the Town Hall - with a document giving them permission to do so. You must give your full name, NIE and apartment address.
If any of you need the account name and number for payment - please contact me - I can send it to you, although you will first of all need to collect the receipts in order to know what the due amount is.
