Interesting Comparison Ted, when i stayed at La manga in 2008 Golf was 190€ round hopefully our course wont follow that lead?
I still think that latest prices for our resort sports zone is crazy Perhaps 3€ per person for Padel Tennis and Squash per hour would be more fair?
The monthly membership is strange in that if 4 different owners all paid for monthly Membership and played a 4 ball padel they only get a 2 € discount not much point. and quite a profit from the monthly Membership.
I think most people are currently not using these facilities, I have seen people playing Padel in the 5 a side football pitch and tennis in the streets between the cars?
Apart from the costs the creation of a Sports Club is also an additional Security risk and a Parking Problem for Jardines 5 and 7.
Also possibility outsiders using sport facilities using pools in Jardin 5 & 7
Members of sports club outside of Condado also doi not contribute to the upkeep of the roads?
Perhaps we can make a charge to the Sports Club for use of our roads and Parking? but that would increase costs?
Maybe the answer is to bring sports zone into community and charge across the board to all owners then facilities could be free or token charge ?
The Presidents are aware of these problems and will be seeking solutions if possible. This is not high on the list at the moment.

It might be worth thinking about having it put onto the community charge, so we can then have a direct input on how it is going to be run, or have the community run it and owners pay a reduced rate and visitors pay a much higher rate, then we are generating our own income and not just letting a company make a profit, which I doubt they will.

been watching this thread wih interest and thanks to Mick for some hard facts - wow - when the resort was marketed the sports zone was a feature I'm sure we all liked and hoped to enjoy, but of course no one told us it would be run by a separate co. and we'd have to pay through the nose for it . Certainly we should look at the community taking it on but I'm sure there would be an up front fee to purchase the 'goodwill' and future revenue stream, so indeed some careful calculations would be needed and put to a vote. Anyhow they may soon get the message when the thing is not being used but we may have a safety issue as inevitably the kids will play paddle in the streets with the traffic to contend with.
what nasty surprise is next lurking around the corner for ???

I agree the charges are a disgrace and a community run area would be desirable. But I would expect the "owners" of the sports area would want a sizeable compensation for handing it over if they see it as potentially profitable. If thats the case it would have to be looked at very closely considering that a decent proportion of the community may never have intended to use the facilities at all. Personally if it could be done at a reasonable cost I'd vote for it as its a great facility and a shame for it to be standing virtually unused.

Mick, you comment - "I still think that latest prices for our resort sports zone is crazy Perhaps 3€ per person for Padel Tennis and Squash per hour would be more fair?" Am I missing something here or isn't that what the charge is? I thought €12 was the fee for the paddle court, and paddle tennis is meant to be a doubles game. tennis at €8 would be €4 per person singles or €2 for doubles. I think these fees are reasonable for a serious game, but they take away the opportunity to go for a knock about with the kids, which is what most of us want

All meant was that 3€ each if 2 play? under current prices 2 would pay 12€ Mostly we see couples playing padel. It is meant to be 4 players.
The cost is high if only 2 play

Mick, I totally agree with you, hence my final comment. They have priced this for serious match play. I would want to play with my son, for fun, but that won't happen with these prices. I just want to be clear, when I said the prices were reasonable I am talking in the context of a proper match - I agree with most of what has been said in this thread, I doubt there are many at Condado looking to paly match tennis, and the pricing structure is totally wrong for the complex at it's current stage of development.

At last some good news on the tennis and gym front...
Having just enjoyed a fantastic few days on Condado as usual, we called into the sports area yesterday. having read some dire reports on fees for usage, I'm happy to report all is not that bad.... The gym is well kitted out and looks well. The good news is you can take out a weekly menbership for just 20EUROS - which is excellent value. Once you have done this, for the duration of that week, you can use tennis, paddle courts etc for 1.50 per person per hour. If you don't take the weekly gym membership, it is 10euro per hour per court. All this info was provided by the young lady who will be running the gym, which opened - it would appear very low key, on Friday. The bar will also reopen in two to three weeks. If we are to keep this area open we will need to support it. So come on, pay the 20 euros, it isnt that much - plus there is always the potential that you may actually get fitter in the process.....!!!

If you pay the 20 Euros for the weekly membership does this allow you to use the gym at no extra cost for that week? I note you say you have to pay extra for paddle tennis etc but you don't mention gym.
Many thanks

20 euro's is a good price, sounds like common sense, and they are going to open it up to people on holiday, so it should get used properly and hopefully by loads of people

Hi All
Do they have monthly, quarterly or annual membership options, as 20 Euros a week is fine for those on holiday for a week of two but very expensive being at least double the cost of premium UK Health Club membership, for those owners staying long term or resident this would make monthly membership averaging 86 Euros and annual membership 1040 Euros and this for something we were told would be free to owners when we bought. I know like other things we were told would be free to residents like phone, TV and so on they have changed their minds but at this cost WOW. So no I don’t think it’s a good deal at all

At 80 Euros per month, its about the same as a David Lloyd membership in the UK, and if you look at the cost per day, its only 3 Euros

I think its 40 euros per month. My post Phil, was aimed at those (the majority) who will only use sporadically. it is a good deal. Give them a call for exact prices - hopefully customer services will have the details in due course.

I would assume that 20 euros is not a family membership but just for one person?

I would still see this as expensive personally, I would not pay 100 e for my family to pay tennis a handful of occasions in a week trip. This project is destine to fail as I dont think I will be alone on that point.

If it means that we can use the gym for a week for 20 euros and play tennis with the kids for 4.5 euros (3 people) then its great but if each member of the family has to pay 20 euros then I agree that's too much. Can someone clarify this?
Cheers

I think it is 20 euros per person per week- on the face of it not so bad but for a family (would a family with children use the gym equipment?) its expensive. Two of us used the squash court (no gym payment)and it was very reasonable at 4 euro's, plus they gave us a crank handle that we didnt have clue what to do with!.
